TD Ameritrade vs Interactive Broker

Hi guys I just recently started investing and have been using IB for awhile now. However, I am currently finding the monthly 10USD to be a bit of a roadblock. I have read multiple comparison for the different brokers for Singapore and still have a couple of questions.
Can anyone enlighten me what the process of account funding is like for TDA? Do we transfer SGD into the account and then convert to USD and be subjected to foreign exchange fee? What is the forex spread like? Do we have the option of transferring USD directly? In the case that we have to withdraw our money, do we reverse the process by converting back to SGD?
For those that are currently with TD Ameritrade already, what do you like about the broker in general? Should I shift from IB to TDA?
Thank you!
EDIT: Sorry I think I wasn’t very clear previously. I have been using IB for a while now so I understand all the processes for IB. What I am curious about is the process for TDA if anyone can enlighten me thank you!

【U.S. Election 2020】Trump or Biden: Who's tougher on China?

【U.S. Election 2020】Trump or Biden: Who's tougher on China?

Photo:Internet
As the pandemic has spread around the world this year, new rhetoric about being "tough" on China has unfurled throughout the political conversation in the United States.
Trump VS. Biden: Attitudes to China
Biden and his campaign have spoken in broad strokes without offering details about exactly how far he would be willing to confront China on trade, human rights, cyber-espionage, or its growing presence in the South China Sea.
Biden also says that he would shore up U.S. alliances, which he says Trump has badly damaged, to present a united front against Beijing and that he would invest in high-tech research and education to make the U.S. economy more competitive.
Biden only mentioned China once in his speech on Aug. 20th.
In comparison, Trump mentioned China many times in his speech on Aug. 27th.
During his speech, President Donald Trump claimed that he has "very good information" that China wants Biden to win because Biden cheers for China.
In fact, Trump enjoyed good relations with China leader Xi Jinping early in his administration while the two leaders engaged in major trade talks, and later, after the coronavirus began to spread, Trump praised Xi for his handling of the crisis. Once the relationship soured, and Trump began blaming China for U.S. public health and economic woes.
"Joe Biden's agenda is made in China. My agenda is made in the USA," Trump said.

Trump or Biden? China expects no favours either way
Decoupling
This word gets used a lot these days. President Trump and his administration talk about it in tweets and in press statements in relation to China.
Decoupling basically means undoing more than three decades' worth of U.S. business relations with China.
Everything is on the cards: from getting American factories to pull their supply chains out of the mainland, to forcing Chinese-owned companies that operate in the U.S. - like TikTok and Tencent - to swap their Chinese owners for American ones.
Make no mistake, under a Trump administration "decoupling will be accelerated", according to Solomon Yue, vice chairman and chief executive of the Republicans Overseas lobby group.
While the U.S. has had some success in forcing American companies to stop doing business with Chinese tech giants like Huawei, it is pushing Chinese firms to develop self-sufficiency in some key industries, like chip-making and artificial intelligence.
Delisting
As part of its focus on China, the Trump administration has come up with a set of recommendations for Chinese firms listed in the U.S., setting a January 2022 deadline to comply with new rules on auditing.
While a Biden administration may not necessarily push through with the exact same ban, analysts say the scrutiny and tone of these recommendations is likely to stay.
While fears of being delisted aren't high on the list of concerns for Chinese companies that are already listed in the U.S., it's enough to sway the decisions of companies that are looking to float in the future.
Take Ant Group, for example, the mammoth Chinese digital financial services group that this week filed for an IPO.
Affiliated to the Alibaba Group, which is listed in the U.S. and Hong Kong, it chose Hong Kong and Shanghai in which to sell its shares instead of the U.S.
Increasingly other Chinese companies are likely to follow suit, as tensions between the U.S. and China get worse.
Deglobalisation
China has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of globalisation over the last 30 years. It has helped hundreds of millions of Chinese afford a better quality and standard of life, the bedrock upon which President Xi Jinping's Chinese Dream is based.
But that's precisely what President Trump says needs to change: his administration argues that China has become richer while the U.S. has become poorer.
During Mr. Trump's term, deglobalisation - where borders are less open, and trade is less free - has become a trend. And it's something that Beijing knows won't change even after the election.
Regardless of whether Biden or Trump is elected president, US-China relations Relations have a great impact on financial markets. The global market is anxiously awaiting the end of this election.

Withdrawing USD Funds from Philippine-Based Paypal Account Using TransferWise Borderless Account

This is a response to u/sgicruz*'s post:* Best way to receive USD payment into a USD savings account? I created a post since this is a bit long comparison.
If you are transferring large amounts of USD from Paypal (i.e. >USD 2,000 at a time), you are forced by Paypal to withdraw in PHP, since you cannot withdraw USD directly to Philippine-based USD accounts. Instead, you can use the TransferWise Borderless Account. The Borderless Account allows you to hold multiple currencies on the account, and also provides USD US Bank Account details (also GBP, Euro, AUD, NZD) which can receive funds via local ACH (automated clearing house). Paypal can withdraw USD funds via US ACH. (There is a verification step before being assigned bank account details: see footnote at the bottom of my post)*
For comparison, below are three scenarios:
  1. Paypal (USD) -> Local PHP Savings Account (PHP)
  2. Paypal (USD) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> BDO USD Savings Account (USD)
  3. Paypal (USD) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> Local PHP Savings Account (PHP)
---------------------------
1. Paypal -> (Withdraw to PHP Bank Account) -> Local PHP Savings Account
Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):
Total fees: PHP 200 (for USD 2,000 sample computation)
(Note: if you use GCash, I think total fee is always PHP 0, subject to wallet and transaction limits)
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => PHP 48.9414
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 97,682.70 (BDO) or PHP 97,882.70 (GCash)
Paypal's PHP-USD buy/sell spread is horrendous at around ~3.0-3.5% compared to the mid-market rate. But this is still a valid option if (1) you are withdrawing small amounts, or (2) you need instant access to cash.
---------------------------
2. Paypal -> (Withdraw to US Bank Account) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> (Send USD via SWIFT) -> BDO USD Savings Account
Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):
Total fees: 59.60 USD
Net USD received thru bank: USD 1940.40
If your ultimate goal is to get the funds in PHP, we can try exchanging the USD to PHP via BDO
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => PHP 50.0000 (BDO USD Buy rates)
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 97,020.00
There are a lot of fixed fees, so this will only be economical for large amounts of USD (probably >USD 3,000). In addition, BDO's PHP-USD buy/sell spread is around ~0.5-1.0% compared to the mid-market rate.
Paypal withdrawal to US bank account takes around 1-2 banking days, while SWIFT transfers take around 1-5 banking days.
---------------------------
An alternative is to send PHP directly from TransferWise. This is cheaper than Paypal or even the USD route described above. This is because TransferWise's exchange rate uses the mid-market rate, and they have transparent fees. In addition, TransferWise -> Local PHP Savings Account settles in minutes, as opposed to the SWIFT USD transfer above (which can take anywhere from 2-5 banking days).
3. Paypal -> (Withdraw to US Bank Account) -> TransferWise Borderless Account -> (Send PHP via ACH [this means Bancnet]) -> Local PHP Savings Account
Associated fees (sample computation for USD 2,000):
Total fees: USD 47.01
Net USD for conversion: USD 1952.99
Exchange Rate (sample for May 8, 2020): 1 USD => 50.4800 PHP
Net PHP received thru bank: PHP 98,586.93
Paypal withdrawal to US bank account takes around 1-2 banking days, while TransferWise USD-PHP ACH (Bancnet) settles in minutes.
---------------------------
*To receive your own USD bank account details, you're required to "Add Money" at least GBP 20 or its equivalent (maybe USD 25). This is their verification requirement. I recommend adding money using Visa/Mastercard Debit Card: TransferWise has around 4.5% fees for the Debit Card Add Money option, so it's going to cost around ~PHP 60 in fees. I recommend using CIMB ATM card if you have, since they currently (as of May 8, 2020) do not charge forex conversion fees. If not, any Visa/Mastercard debit card will do (including BDO Visa ATM cards).
---------------------------
TLDR;
For relatively small amounts, withdraw directly from Paypal to PHP bank account. Best choice is Paypal -> GCash (no inward remittance fee).
For larger amounts, withdraw USD from Paypal to TransferWise Borderless Account, then send PHP via ACH (Bancnet) to Philippine PHP Savings account.
But if you want to keep the amount as USD: withdraw USD from Paypal to TransferWise Borderless Account, then send USD via SWIFT to Philippine USD Savings account.

BROKERZ REVIEW

Overview:

The trademark BROKERZ.COM is the sole proprietorship of BROKERZ LTD addressed offshore in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The trading assets of this broker includes FX pairs, CFDs on shares, several commodities, and many indexes. To get all the information about this broker please read this BROKERZ review.

About the BROKERZ:

Regulation and licensing is the most critical aspect of an online broker. Sadly, we were unable to find any information about the regulatory body that looks after this broker’s operation. The unregulated and unlicensed nature makes it hard to trust any broker. It also becomes a tedious job to recover investor’s funds. As a genuine reviewer, we warn all our readers to avoid such scam brokers. The local financial regulatory authority of Austria publicly warned about this forex fraud called BROKERZ. This broker makes efforts to provide out of the class facility to its traders and offers MetaTrader and WebTrader platform. Eventually, it fails to provide out of class and favorable trading conditions. The spreads provided in all accounts types are capped at 3 pips for the $/€ FX pair. These provided spreads are far higher in comparison with the average market spreads. The broker also takes $8 commission on each trade performed, it is nothing but the extra spread of 0.8 pips. This ultimately increases the trading cost and appears to be unfavorable to all the traders.
While talking about the advantages of BROKERZ it offers 3 different types of trading terminals. The super popular and time tested MetaTrader is amongst them. MetaTrader features MQL for strategy making, charting for current market situation, experts advice for a quick profit and many more. Another advantage we came across of this broker is its low initial investments. $250 is required to open a basic account with this broker and it is according to market condition. The maximum leverage of 1:100 is offered by BROKERZ and it can be beneficial to most of the traders as the minimum loss is associated with it as compared to the high leverage ratio.

Is BROKEZ scam or legit?

The offshore broker BROKERZ is unregulated and unlicensed. Also, there is a potential forex scam broker warning issued against it by the Austrian financial authority. The SVG based firms are treated doubtfully. All these facts force us to believe that this can be an investment scam. Avoiding such brokers is advised.

Market Making Strategy

Market Making Strategy

https://preview.redd.it/u1jwr3pjndi31.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e51f144990f475c4435e249f10f5582eab3765c1
The needs of Market Making Strategies
According to a research in Nebraska, Over the past few years, the rapid growth and success of automated techniques for e-commerce have resulted in their wide adoption in various domains beyond traditional B2B and B2C commodity markets.
As the role of the market-makers grows, the need for better understanding of the impact of the market-makers in the market increases as well.
Finally, the reinforcement learning strategy fulfills its tasks of both controlling the spread and maximizing utility.
History of market making
The automation of a market-makers’s functions was suggested more than three decades ago. Previously, several theoretical approaches, albeit with certainsimplifying assumptions, have been proposed to understand the effects of market makers on financial markets.
Designing a strategy based on :
  • Traders behavior
  • market-makers behavior
As a result, the rolls of a market makers are :
  1. Sets bid and offer prices within a certain currency pair
  2. Commits to accepting deals at these prices within certain constraints
  3. Takes the resulting exposure on to their own book (at least initially)
  4. Hosting, deployment, and maintenance
  5. Integrations with portfolio and execution management systems
  6. Access to historical order book data
Above all, this white paper mentioned different strategies about market making :
  • Basic arbitrage strategies: singe trading pair on two exchanges
  • Multiple exchange strategy: increase likelihood of identifying arbitrage opportunities by monitoring multiple exchanges (more than two)
  • Multiple trading pair strategies / triangular arbitrage: a common strategyin foreign exchange markets, using more than a single trading pair for capturingarbitrage. Increased complexity and additional trading pairs increase the likelihoodof the occurrence of a pricing dislocation.
  • Cross-Exchange Market Making: Cross-exchange market making combines elements from both arbitrage trading and basicmarket making in order to profit from differences in liquidity between trading pairs fromtwo (or more) different exchanges. In cross-exchange market making, a market maker trades on or two different exchanges and uses the best available bid and asks.
  • Re balancing :When employing a cross-exchange market making strategy, it is increasingly likely withthe passage of time that an imbalance in the direction of trading flows will accumulate.
Conclusion
This is the first step in performing a comparison of multiple market-maker strategies. In the future, we wish to explore different extensions of this work. First of all, we would like to propose and perform comparisons of other market-maker strategies such as using a minimax regret algorithm for price adjustments by the market-maker. Secondly, we would like to study the performance of the market makers with a more complex behavior, such as dynamically switching strategies based on past performance. This way, a better balance of maintaining marketquality and maximizing market-maker utilities may be obtained. And lastly, we would like to add various behavioral attributes to the market-maker model such as different risk attributes and making untruthful price revelations through bluffing for improving profits.

11-04 14:33 - 'DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KRATSCOIN AND BITCOIN' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/xia112 removed from /r/Bitcoin within 3-13min

'''
• The indivisible minimum KRATSCOIN unit is 0.00001 instead of 0.00000001 to denominate realistic currency rates in FOREX. Denomination cannot be determined or dictated by the value of a currency. If KRATSCOIN is valued at USD10,000.00 then the smallest unit of KRATSCOIN at 0.00001 = USD0.10 and nothing smaller than USD0.10 in KRATSCOIN.
Example: If USD1.00 = THB30.00 and the smallest denomination of USD is USD0.10, then a USD0.10 which is THB3.00, is unable to buy a piece of candy at THB1.00. Thus the USD must be converted into a smaller currency of THB in order to buy the THB1.00 candy.
• KRATSCOIN is in-line with standard International Foreign Currency Exchange Practice at indivisible minimum unit 0.00001.
• Each KRATSCOIN is equipped with a 13 digit “SERIAL CODES AND NUMBERS” and there will be a total of 2,100,000,000,000 SERIAL CODES in total.
Example1: 1st KRATSCOIN = AKDJFYRS.00000 Example2: 1st Fraction from 1st KRATSCOIN = AKDJFYRS.00001 Example3: 2nd Fraction from 2nd KRATSCOIN = AKDJFYRS.00002 Example4: Last KRATSCOIN = DLXVZKWR.00000 Example5: 1st Fraction from Last KRATSCOIN = DLXVZKWR.00001 Example6: 2nd Fraction from Last KRATSCOIN = DLXVZKWR.00002
• In Year 2015, Silk Road in DeepWeb utilization of Bitcoin in their transactions amounts to USD1.2billion spanning over 950,000 users. One may argue that Bitcoin is most utilized by the black market, which then maintains its value and worth among other factors. However, the USD1.2bil a year over 950,000 users are far fetch from the Legitimate Users in comparison. Bitcoin transactions runs into USD40.0bil in recent Legitimate Crypto Exchanges. In summary, legitimate transaction of crypto currencies is many times larger use in illegal transactions.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIAT AND CRYPTO:
• Fiat Currency is backed by Governments/Countries itself. What determines the value of a currency is the economic health, demand, growth, political stability to name a few, of the respective country. Before 1930, most fiat currencies were backed by gold and silver.
• Since 1971, U.S. citizens have been able to utilize Federal Reserve Notes as the only form of money that for the first time had no currency with any gold or silver backing. This is where you get the saying that U.S. dollars are backed by the “full faith and credit” of the U.S. Government - quoted in google.com.
• What backs crypto value is purely supply and demand. The demand creation of a crypto is its sole objective. To create demand, the crypto has to have a purpose. And most purpose commonly promoted is utility. The number of ways you can utilize the said crypto. The more utilization factors the more demand there is for it.
• There are other ways to substantiate value of a crypto and that is to back the crypto with a 1 to 1 ratio in assets or in USD. Then the question is, how 3,000 crypto currencies in circulation be monetary eco sustainable? Can anyone imagine walking into McDonald and view a chart of 3,000 different pricing? Which also means the crypto is a payment gateway pegging against USD instead of bearing any true characteristic of a currency.
• A country’s currency is in its own legit form of legal tender, the only currency acceptable under financial sovereigns of a country. People in the world must be made to understand that. Retailers in Thailand cannot put up products price tags in EUROS/USD, it is illegal. It has to be in Thai Baht.
• It is hardly imaginable for everyone in the world to retail with a Crypto-Currencies at a rate of 7 transactions per second. When mining nodes are reduced due to non-performing mining ratio, mining blocks in the Blockchain will significantly be limited too, rendering delays in transactions while usage increases.
• In time to come, as trends of crypto picks up, Thailand can issue BAHT COIN or UK the STERLING COIN, exactly what China wishes to do. Digital RMB, but would such crypto currencies be fully decentralized? We all have our answers. Absurd to even think of producing Thai Baht, Pound Sterling or Chinese Yuan at the cost of electricity. It is currencies in digital forms.
KRATSCOIN is not meant for that purpose. In some opinion, apart from utilization, a crypto can be for safekeeping, an entity for keeping money while allowing easy liquidation, at a click of a mobile button, not to mention sending or transferring without the trouble of going to banks, which was the original purpose of Bitcoin to begin with. Therefore, KRATSCOIN would be better termed as Crypto Commodity, sharing similarities as Metal Commodities.
An individual cannot use gold to make a purchase, neither can one eat gold. It can only be kept or invest in for appreciative value over time. Gold is being exampled for its scarcity which reasons for its higher value over its cousin, silver or bronze. Who or what determines the value of gold? Just like any other crypto, demand by humanity. As in all other commodities, it must also be placed in checks by governments. To put in checks, serial numbers are introduced to protect a country’s commodities outflows or illegal exports.
Humanity made Bitcoin a reality. Acceptance by the majority members of the public made Bitcoin to what is it today with the trust they entrusted it with, or is the majority public hopping on the band wagon to make a few quick extra bucks? Whatever the reasons are, the characteristics of Crypto Currencies are only matched by the behavior of Commodities.
SERIALIZED COINS - WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE PUBLIC: Every currency has its own remarkable name, design and colors. Dollars, Euros, Pound, Tugrik, Peso, Rupee, Rupiah, Dina, Ringgit, Baht and the list carries on. One thing every currency have in common - Serial Numbers.
In any crime, investigators will firstly establish motives and mode of operation, both of which are very likely related to money. So following the money trial is a natural thing to do for investigators/authorities and it has become a common practice. Crimes require funding ie robbers need money to buy guns to carry out its robbing activities. Cutting off financing will reduce criminal activities. That’s the approach governments of the WORLD have adopted for crime fighting.
Perhaps people do not realize this while most do not feel the pinch. Humanity tends to take life for granted until apocalypse happens. Take a minute to visualize the tallest tower in your homeland collapse into a pile of dust with thousands of casualties effecting everything else that comes to mind. Imagine a family member, just 1 is enough, is among those casualties.
• Imagine if monetary system is not in place and drug dealers, among many, roam the earth freely distributing what can be death threatening substance to your kids. What if you are mugged of your inheritance [items left to you by your father] that is beyond retrieval? As for crypto enthusiast, what if your wallet gets hacked as even the mighty Pentagon gets hacked. All the above can go away if the crypto system leaves a trail for hound dogs to sniff out. Money Trail or Serial Codes Trail to be exact.
• Citizens rely on governments and their countries to do what is best for them to lead their daily lives, flourish, advance, improve and strive but at the same time, citizens want to take away the single most important thing deemed crucial in the hierarchy of humanity from governments with additional boastful remarks such as “I transferred $400 million from one corner of the earth to another corner in a single transaction and no governments can do anything about it”.
• In-short, to boast unregulated financial movement is to arrogantly promote crime without realizing it while challenging the world’s monetary authority. Oldest advice in the book teaches us never to pick a fight we can’t win.
• Serial Coded Coins does not take away the financial movement freedom nor does it take away your privacy. It merely provides Authorities the necessary means needed for crime prevention and fighting. It only re-inforce security and safety. SERIALIZED COINS - WHAT IT MEANS FOR GOVERNMENTS: • Governments are relentlessly trying to find new ways to keep track of crypto transactions. Crypto Currency Exchanges, just like all other Financial Institutions and Banks, are required to practice the most stringent Know Your Customer (widely known as KYC) process. The KYC is designed to provide governing agencies and authorities with information pertaining to crypto ownerships.
• But no governments can have information on Peer-to-Peer (also known as P2P) transactions unless the government in question launch a full scale Federal Investigation on certain suspected individuals seeking Wallet Developers to unveil the ownership of certain wallet addresses. Do not forget, National and Global Security trumps Privacy Act. Refusal to co-operate under the pretext of Global or National Security will only result in an out-right ban, which is exactly what happened to Blackberry.
• Questions to Governments – What if Wallet Developers or Crypto Exchanges shuts down which can happen for various reasons be it foul-play, sinister or forcefully under threat? What if servers are damaged and ruined? An EMP strike or a simple magnet can make it happen. Information/identities of suspected customers of such addresses shall be lost forever and along with it the Money Trial.
• The most probable way of evading Authorities with crypto assets are developing an e-wallet for own illicit purpose. Since the cost of developing an e-wallet is relatively low in considerable cost to hiding, what can governments do to flush out these ants from the vast networks of tunnels?
• With Serialized Coded Crypto Assets, it doesn’t matter if servers of Exchanges or Wallets are destroyed. The Serial Codes of each token/coin enables governments of every participating country to track both origin and destination by identifying records of each token/coin in wallet address. It can disappear into a cold wallet but emerging some place later yet Authorities can still detail which particular token/coin has at one moment of time been into which wallet, on what day and date.
• If the battle of financial crimes can be resolved with a simple Serialize Coded Crypto Asset, the eradication of corruptions, money laundering, unlawful proceeds and terrorism financing will be made possible. Criminals can no longer exploit the genius creation of Sathoshi – Blockchain and Crypto-Currencies.
• Global Security, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Money Laundering could just be excuses granting government agencies the need to have access to financial information in the Monetary System. Nonetheless, it is in the interest of every nation that capital outflow is controlled. Capital Outflow is most frequent when the economy of a country is deteriorating. In the face of an economy meltdown, monetary flow is most needed and yet citizens tend to transfer monies further away illegally from their own country in an act of selfishness. This would not be tolerated by any country. Serial Coded Coin shall prove this attempt futile.
• In most part of Asian Countries, many crypto-currency mining operations are carried out illegally. The legality sits on thin fine line where Authorities can pin only stealing of electricity as a major concern to the respective country. Since most Power Companies belongs to the Country in one way or another, it is financially damaging to Power Producers and Utility Suppliers. Serial Codes can determine if the KRATSCOIN is mined legally or illegally making it difficult for miners or mining farms to mine crypto while avoiding making electricity payments. Will this deterrent disrupt the chain of KRATSCOIN supply? That’s not how Blockchain Tech works. TAXATIONS - WHAT IT MEANS FOR PUBLIC AND GOVERNMENTS: • Taxation cannot be imposed on “Illegal & Unlawful Proceeds” instead confiscation is enforced in many countries. Origins or proceeds of Serialized Coded Crypto Assets can be easily identified by the Serial Codes in-conjunction with the Blockchain. This exercise can evidently proof the legitimacy of the aforesaid token/coin. By “Illegal & Unlawful Proceeds” also refers to crypto coins obtained via illegal mining operations.
• Taxation on Crypto Assets are calculated on profits deriving from the sale/disposal of the crypto Assets. If we are small crypto believers, the amount of taxation rendered by Inland Revenue will be insignificant. Why risk Freedom of Life over Freedom of Small Monies. If we are big crypto believers, taxation on Serialized Coded Coins can be considered added security to your assets protection.
• By adopting Serialized Crypto Assets, declaration is made easily possible via proof of token/coin origin via the Blockchain. If the Authorities can know where our crypto assets come from, the Authorities will know where it will disappear to. It is taxation cum insurance in one tiny sum. This added security with freedom feature will encourage self-declarations of crypto assets to Authorities and Agencies. PRIVACY & ANONIMITY: • Many may be skeptical of their wealth being tracked and monitored. But in this era of technological advance society, everything we touches has our signature. Banks, iPhones, Samsung Mobiles, Google, Facebook, Whatsapp, WeChat, LINE, Viber, Facebook, Properties, Utilities. Almost everything. It is to this fact that there is a need for Privacy Protection Act.
• As explained before, Crypto Currency Exchange KYC procedures is designed to expose the identity of Crypto Assets ownership. The Blockchain is supposed to serve as a transparent information platform. The question of privacy over Serialized Coded Coins does not exist, it does not make Serialized Coded Coins ownership any less private.
• Ownership of wallet addresses shall always remain anonymous while the only way Authorities can get to it is through Wallet Developers by virtue of Global/National Security Threats or by a Court Order as per the Privacy Protection Act. SAFETY & SECURITY (CODED CRYPTO VS FIAT + COMMODITIES): • No human mind can memorize the millions of serial numbers printed on fiat currencies. The records of Serialized Coded Coins will forever be in the Blockchain embedded within each transaction from wallet to wallet.
• Serialized Commodities such as gold can be melted down. Diamonds recrafted. Fiat double printed. But not Serialized Coded Crypto Assets.
• Should an accessory system be added into the KRATSCOIN Blockchain, allowing reports on criminal activity be made within the Blockchain, notifying all ledgers of certain stolen Serial Coded Coins, enabling WARNINGS and forbidding next transaction of that particular Serial Coded Coin, wouldn’t this function enhance protection. A theft deterrent function which can never be achieved with physical gold, diamonds or fiat. KRATSCOIN SUMMARY: • Most crypto currencies have not reach a level of security alert for governments. This could be the only reason why a possible ban has not been discussed. China and India has begun efforts to control or ban crypto currencies in their quest to combat capital outflow, writer’s personal opinion. The EU has stopped Libra from implementation. “A company cannot be allowed Authoring Power for issuance of currencies” quoted the governments. KRATSCOIN is fully decentralized with no ownership nor control by any country, company or individual. Once again, the beauty of Bitcoin decentralization concept prevails.
• “There is no such thing as a world currency. However, since World War II, the dominant or reserve currency of the world has been the U.S. dollar” quoted in google.com.
• Most countries have “Foreign Reserves” as backing to a country’s fiat currency. It is a mean of “back up” attempt should all factors above mentioned leading to the value of their currencies collapse. Then what will happen if the Country of the Foreign Reserves collapse?
• Serial Coded KRATSCOIN belongs to no one, no country, no company and therefore theoretically shall not be effected by politics, war or global economy meltdown yet everyone, every country and every government is able to benefit from KRATSCOIN.

What Is Forex?

What Is Forex?

A New Era

Although it might seem easy to invest in Forex nowadays, by just logging into an account with a broker, deposit some money and start actively trading; it has not always been like this, as forex industry has rapidly changed in the past three decades.
Before technology and free-floating currencies took over the industry, world currency exchanges were operating under the Bretton Woods System of Money Management. This agreement established rules for commercial and financial relations among top economies, tying their currencies to gold. Hence, a currency note issued by any world government represented a real amount of gold held in a vault by that nation. When in July 1944 delegates from all over the world sign off the pact, the main goal was to reduce lack of cooperation between countries and therefore avoiding currency wars. This process of regulating the foreign exchange brought to the foundation of the international money fund (IMF) and the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), today part of World bank Group.
However, in the early 70s the real-world economics outpaced the system, dollar suffered from severe inflation cutting its value by half. At that time unemployment rate was 6.1% and inflation 5.84%. Finally, in August 1971, U.S. government led by Richard Nixon took away gold standard, creating the first fiat currency and replacing Bretton Woods System with De Facto. Together with this there were other important measures taken by the USA president to combat that high inflation regime:
  1. This decision was driven by many European nations asking to redeem their dollars for gold, till leaving Bretton Woods System. This had an enormous impact on USD which plunged against European currencies. Consequently, USA congress release a report suggesting USD devaluation to protect the currency from foreign gougers. However, dollar dropped again, and Treasury Secretary was directed to suspend the USD convertibility with gold; hence foreign governments could no longer exchange their USD with gold.
  2. The inflation level was skyrocketing and one more action taken by Nixon was to freeze all wages and prices for 90 days, this was the first time since WWII.
  3. Import surcharge of 10% was set up to safeguard American products ensuring no disadvantage in trades.
Today, USD dominates financial markets, accounting together with the EURO, for approximately 50% of all currency exchange transactions in the world.
1971 represents the beginning of a new forex trading era, bringing this market to be the largest and most liquid in the world, with an average of daily trading volume exceeding $5trn. All the world’s combined stock markets don t even come close to this, what does this mean to you?
In an environment which is controlled by free-floating currencies moving constantly, following principles of supply and demand, there are constant and exciting trading opportunities, unavailable when investing in different markets.
In this article are shared main features of what is forex trading today and how can be an incredible new source of income for everyone who is into financial markets.

What Is Forex?

Forex is the acronym for foreign exchange which intends to be a decentralized or over the counter (OTC) marketplace, where currencies from all over the world are traded 24 hours, five days a week. Main financial centres include New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo and Frankfurt for Eurozone. It is by far the largest market in the world in terms of volume, followed by the credit market. Being highly liquid is an important feature that allows traders to be able to enter and exit their positions very quickly. Nevertheless, while trading forex, an investor should be aware of several components:
Dynamicity – forex is an extremely fast environment, this means that currency rates can move very fast, influenced by price action signals and fundamental factors. Therefore, going into forex trading, one needs to be aware of adopting serious risk and money management strategies in order to be effective, limiting losses.
Zero Sum Game – trading forex is not like investing in the stock market but is known to be a zero-sum game. For example, going into the equity market buying some tech shares, they could both rise or decrease in value. In forex is different because currencies work in pairs; for instance, an investor decides Euro will go up he or she is doing it against another currency. Thus, in this specific marketplace one currency will rise while the other will fall, meaning an investor is buying the currency hoping it will appreciate to the other, or selling the one that will depreciate.
See image below:
Figure 1: Main traded currency pairs
https://preview.redd.it/vu77ziuoyle31.png?width=574&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b1693bf27508fcb142705c309de1fc5b3e8fa19
Currency pairs are composed by a base and a price currency. Main forex trading principle is how much price currency an investor can buy using 1 unit of the base, thus, the base currency, which is the first one in line within the quotation, is always equal to 1.
Because like every financial instrument currency pairs are driven by fundamentals of supply and demand, forex is intensively influenced by geopolitical and macroeconomic factors.
Capital Markets – these are the most visible indicators of a country economic health, where usually the healthier the economy the stronger the currency. For example, a rapid sell-off from a country will show that nation is not economically stable, subsequently investors will think negatively of it depreciating its currency.
Moreover, many countries are sector driven, this means that their currencies are strictly correlated with certain resources. For instance, Canada which is a commodity-based market, CAD is strictly linked to price of Brent and metals, a swing in those will affect the Canadian currency.
Finally, credit market is also connected to forex since also relies heavily on interest rate so, a change in bond yield will have major impact on currency prices. like increase in yield will favour bullish market for USD
International Trade – Trade levels serve as a proxy for relative demand of goods from a nation, a country which goods and services that are in high demand internationally, will experience an appreciation to its currency. This is an effect driven by all other countries converting their currencies into the one of that state to purchase its goods and services. Let’s say a product from USA is in high demand globally, all the other countries must sell their currencies to buy dollars to then see their goods shipped, thus USD will appreciate.
Trade surplus and deficit also indicate a nation competitive standing in international trade. Countries with a large trade deficit are usually importers resulting in more of their currencies being sold to buy goods worldwide, thus they will see their currencies devaluate.
Geopolitics – The political landscape of a nation places a major role in the economic outlook for that country and consequently, the perceived value of its own currency. Beside building up price action strategies, based purely on price levels, forex traders constantly look at economic calendars and news to gauge what could move currencies. A geopolitical event which is having a great impact on GBP, is the election of Boris Johnson as UK prime minister, driving the local currency to 2 years low, yesterday 29th of July 2019. Therefore, when investors observe instability from a nation political environment, there are high chances that the currency of that country will depreciate.

Why Trading Forex

Beside swapping from a gold standard to free-floating, which change the whole forex trading game, technology is another crucial factor that helped this financial sector to spread globally. With the introduction of internet in the 90s forex opened to retail investors giving access to various trading platforms. The introduction of online platforms and retail investments have increased forex market volume by 5%, up to $250bn of its daily turnover. Different traders may have different reasons for selecting forex, however, mostly is because this is a fertile market plenty of daily opportunities to gauge price action and profit from it.

Volatility

How traders profit from trading forex? Basics of trading are rather simple to understand. An investor buys an asset at a certain price hoping to get rid of it for a higher price. The more volatile is the market for that specific financial instrument, the more revenue is possible to make. Therefore, a trader is looking for long up and down moves rather than market fluctuating sideways.
Volatility is great in forex and a trader can expect to regularly see prices oscillating 50-100 pips on major currency pairs almost any day of the week. Yet again, due to this enormous constant fluctuation, potential losses or gains can be very high thus, rigours money management must be applied to avoid major damages and become a profitable trader. To conclude, volatility is the main characteristic investors are looking at and that is why it is one of the main feature traders can take advantage.
See image below:

Figure 2: FDAX Volatility, H4 (30th May 2019, 16:00, 30th July 2019, 16:00)

Accessibility & Technology

While volatility is the most important element out in the market that tell us why forex is the best market to trade, accessibility comes straight after. This market is more accessible than all the others, trading forex requires an online desk position and as little as $100 to start off an account.
In comparison with the other financial markets, forex requires a rather low trading capital. Moreover, trading forex can be easily accessible from your PC, tablet or mobile since most of retail broker firms operate online. Although, accessibility cannot tell the quality of the market by itself, it definitely shows a reason why many investors try their first trading experience on forex.
Also, the rapid introduction of technology since the 90s, made trading much easier. There are every year more advanced online platforms to trade on with many possible updates and that is why trading forex is edging for many global investors.

Forex Players

Before the introduction of free-floating currency and more importantly cutting hedge technology, forex was a market that could have been traded only by institutional investors. Nowadays however, even retail and individual investor can take advantage of the huge volume forex offers every day.
Banks
Interbank market is the major responsible for the high volume registered daily in forex. This is the place where banks exchange currency among each other, facilitating forex transactions for customers and speculate for their trading desks.
  • Clients transactions: in this case banks of all size act as dealer for clients, where the bid-ask spread represents the profit for the institutions.
  • Speculation: currencies are traded to profit from their price fluctuations as well as to increase diversification on their portfolio
Because banking institutions are the biggest players in foreign exchange market, they are able to push up and down the price of currencies giving an extreme advantage and higher volatility to individual traders who are trying to gauge price moves.
Central Banks
Central banks representing their nation’s government, are crucial in forex. They oversee monetary and fiscal policies having massive influence on currency rates. A central bank is responsible for fixing the price level of its native currency on the market, in other words they take care of the regime currencies will float in the open market.
  • Floating: these are the currencies which price floats on the open market based on principles of supply and demand relative to other currencies
  • Pegged (fixed exchange rate): opposite to floating currencies pegged ones are not free-floating in the open market however, their government rather tie them to the value of a stronger foreign currency. Pegged currencies are more seen in developing countries (CYN to USD).
Because central banks manage interest rates in order to increase the competitiveness of their native nation to another.
  • Dovish: these policies will be lowering down interest rates. A central bank which applies dovish conditions aims to give economic stimulus and guard against deflation. Usually a policy intended to give economy stimulus will weakening the currency value.
  • Hawkish: on the other hand, hawkish policies lead to an increase in interest rate. A central bank that uses hawkish measures aims to reduce inflation. Typically, this kind of policies will reinforce the country currency value.
Investment Managers & Hedge Funds
Portfolio managers and hedge funds are the second investors in forex after central and investment banks. They are hired by huge institutions such as pension to manage their assets. However while portfolio managers of pool funds will buy currency to speculate on foreign securities, hedge funds execute speculative trades as part of their strategies.
Corporations
Also international corporation play a big role in forex. Those firms operating globally, buying and selling goods and services are involved in forex transactions daily. Imagine an American company producing pipes that imports Japanese components and sell the finished product to China. After the sale is closed the CYN must be converted back to USD, while the American company must exchange USD into JPY to repay for the components supply.
Moreover, company involved in international trade have an interest in forex in order to hedge the risk associated with currencies fluctuations making several foreign exchange transactions. For instance, the same American company might buy JPY at spot rate, or enter a swap agreement to obtain JPY in advance, overtaking the risk of the Japanese currency to rise in the future. Therefore, forex become crucial to run companies with many subsidiaries and suppliers all over the word.
Individual & Retail Investors
Even though this investor cluster brings to forex a very limited volume compared to financial institutions and corporations, it is rapidly growing in numbers and popularity. These base their trades on a mixture of fundamentals and technical analysis.
Bottom line, main reason why forex is the most traded market in the world is because gives everyone, from top financial institutions to retail and individual trades, opportunities to make returns on capital invested from currencies price fluctuations related to global economy.

Oanda's spreads are HUGE Part 2

In my first post I compared Oanda's spreads to other legitimate brokers. I received criticism (see below) because I compared spreads on the weekend and brokers with different business models (Market Makers vs ECN).
In this post I used the same mechanics to compare brokers, except I used average spreads, not current, from 30/11/16 20:07 GMT+3 to 6/12/16 20:07 GMT+3, and included comissions into the spreads.
Oanda: 1.50
FXCM: 1.16
Forex.com: 1.96
Pepperstone: 0.90
Darwinex: 0.94
IC Markets: 0.85
Exness: 1.14
RoboForex: 1.01
Although Oanda's spreads have reduced and are smaller in comparison to other brokers, broker spreads ranking hasn't changed. Oanda has the second highest spreads after Forex.com. IC Markets has nearly half the spreads of Oanda's, even after including commissions. I am leaning towards opening an account with Pepperstone or IC Markets more than ever before.
Although spreads are a major factor in choosing a broker, they do not represent execution quality, slippage, or any other fees of a broker.
While this is true, why open an account with Oanda over Pepperstone, for example?
Hall of Criticism
NormanConquest:
You're doing it wrong. Never in 3 years as an Oanda client have I seen eurusd with an 8 pip spread. When we're you looking, Sunday night? Eurusd is usually around 1.2 pips, sometimes less than 1. However you're finding them, it's not reporting them right.
KidUnidentifiable:
You can't just compare spreads with brokers using different business models. http://prntscr.com/d3tjme If you look at the spreads of ICMarkets (I use) and Oanda, they don't differ by much really. That's because you need to integrate the commission ICMarkets charge and integrate it into the spread. Once you do, they don't differ by much.

· Service trade made: $4.2433 trillion in 2011 and $4.4232 trillion in 2012
These values are still way behind the derivative market trade volumes.
What are the challenges?
Delving into the asset markets with cryptocurrencies as a means of trade comes with a few challenges. For one, it is difficult for private persons with small investments to access these markets. And even if you were a big corporation, there is currently no opportunity to trade with exchange asset derivative instruments that are expressed in cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin.)
How Traditional Stock exchanges work
Trading is carried out with the use of fiat currencies and is performed through brokers. The brokers work for huge corporations hence the high expenses and large volumes of transactions. The volume of one trade at exchange markets with the real delivery of currency on the second working day could make up to about $5 million.
On the other hand, the cost of one conversion transaction makes from $60 to $300. On top of these costs, a trader could spend up to $6000 a month for interbank information and trading terminal. This is obviously not conducive for small-scale traders.
In order to curb the high costs of trade, two American stock exchanges, CBOE and CME introduced trade with futures for BTC at the end of 2017. The only problem is that they impose high requirements on the lot size. Another challenge is that futures at these stock exchanges are calculated and not delivered hence trade participants cannot actually buy BTC.
Curbstone brokers
Curbstone brokers or otherwise known as ‘bucket shops’ are forex brokers who offer clients small transactions without registering them with the interbank market. The brokers act as an opposite side in a transaction which means that the client's profit turns out to be the broker’s loss, and the client's loss - into broker's profit. This conflict of interest has resulted in brokers manipulating charts to make transactions of their clients unprofitable. Bucket shops do not publish reports on transactions, which makes activities of such brokers non-transparent.
Of late, many of them have begun offering trade with cryptocurrencies. It makes trading flexible but not ethical and trustworthy as it is with the traditional stock exchanges.
As a matter of fact, this lack of trust in curbstone brokership has led to their ban in some countries where they are considered fraudulent.
So what is the solution?
Cryptocurrencies have enabled ordinary people and investors to save and grow their money discreetly away from unfair control or seizure by state regulatory bodies. The use of cryptocurrency in the blockchain network is a powerful expression of freedom that should be spread across all trading platforms.
In this regard, we believe in the development of future exchange asset derivative instruments that make use of the available cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and other high-liquid cryptocurrencies.
This will make bull or bear traditional assets widely accessible to professionals and beginning traders. More importantly, there will be lower transaction fees about 0.05% when compared to spot exchanges (Bitfinex, Binance, Kraken, and Poloniex) that charge in the range of 0.1 to 2%.
BITEX.ONE
BlTEX.ONE is one such innovative trading platform that allows for international trading with assets expressed in cryptocurrencies with a transparent transaction system for the customers. It also has anti-fraud prevention measures to guard against chart manipulations.
The platform allows traders to increase their Bitcoins by speculating on the changes in the price of accessible traditional exchange assets such as the dollar, the euro, gold, oil, beans, cocoa or share indexes.
Mission
Our greatest mission is to bring the usage of blockchain and cryptocurrencies into the trading arena. We believe that the creation and functioning of the BITEX.ONE platform for trading with futures on traditional assets would achieve this.
The growing popularity of cryptocurrencies in many developing countries will soon provide them with a legitimate status through effective legislation. When this plane takes off, we want to be ready with an elaborate platform for institutional investors to use cryptocurrencies as investment instruments. Working with futures on traditional assets will create an opportunity for investors to make substantial profit for their customers.

The XTRD Megathread

What is XTRD?

XTRD is a technology company that are introducing a new infrastructure that would allow banks, hedge funds, and large institutional traders to easily access cryptocurrency markets.
XTRD is launching three separate products in sequential stages to solve the ongoing problems caused by having so many disparate markets. Firstly a unified FIX API followed by XTRD Dark Pools and finally the XTRD Single Point of Access or SPA.
Our goal is to build trading infrastructure in the cyptospace and become one of the first full service shops in the cryptocurrency markets for large traders and funds.

What are the industry issues?

COMPLEX WEB OF EXCHANGES. A combination of differing KYC policies, means of funding, interfaces and APIs results in a fragmented patchwork of liquidity for cryptocurrencies. Trading in an automated fashion with full awareness of best pricing and current liquidity necessitates the opening and use of accounts on multiple exchanges, coding to multiple API’s, following varying funding and withdrawal procedures. Once those hurdles are cleared, market participants must convert fiat currency to BTC or ETH and then forward the ETH on to an exchange that may not accept fiat, necessitating yet another transaction to convert back to fiat. Major concerns for market participants range from unmitigated slippage and counterparty risk to hacking prevention and liquidity.
HIGH FEES. Execution costs are even more of a factor. Typical exchange commissions are in the 0.1% – 0.25% range per transaction (10 to 25 basis points), but the effective fees are much higher when taking into bid and ask spreads maintained by the exchanges. As most exchanges are unregulated, there is generally no central authority or regulator to examine internal exchange orders that separate proprietary activity from customer activity and ensure fair pricing.
THIN LIQUIDITY. A large institutional order, representing a sizable percentage of daily volume can move the market for a product, and related products in an exchange by a factor of 5-10%. That means a single order to buy $1,000,000 worth of bitcoin can cost an extra $50,000-$100,000 per transaction given a lack of liquidity if not managed correctly and executed on only one exchange. By way of comparison, similar trades on FX exchanges barely move markets a fraction of a percent; those price changes cost traders money, and deter investment.

What are the XTRD solutions?

FIX API
An API is an “Application Programming Interface”, a set of rules that computer programs use to communicate. FIX stands for “Financial Information eXchange”, the API standard used by most financial organizations as the intermediary protocol to communicate amongst disparate systems such as market data, execution, trade reporting, and order entry for the past 25 years.XTRD is fixing the problem of having 100 different APIs for 100 exchanges by creating a single FIX based API for market data and execution – the same FIX API that all current financial institutions utilize.XTRD will leverage our data center presences in DC3 Chicago and NY4 New Jersey to host FIX trading clients and reduce their trading latencies to single milliseconds, a time acceleration of 100x when it comes to execution vs internet. More infrastructure and private worldwide internet lines will be added in 2018 and beyond to enable secure, low latency execution for all XTRD clients, FIX and PRO.
XTRD PRO
XTRD PRO is a professional trading platform that will fix the basic problems with trading across crypto exchanges – the need to open multiple web pages, having to click around multiple windows, only being able to use basic order types, and not seeing all your positions, trades, and market data in one place.XTRD PRO will be standalone, downloadable, robust end-to-end encrypted software that will consolidate all market data from exchanges visually into one order book, provide a consolidated position and order view across all your exchange accounts, and enable client side orders not available on exchanges – keyboard macro shortcuts, VWAP/TWAP, shaving the bid and offer, hit through 1% of the inside, reserve orders that bid 100 but show 1, SMART order routing to best exchange and intelligent order splicing across exchanges based on execution costs net of fees, OCO and OTO, many others.
XTRD SPA
XTRD SPA is the solution to bridge cross-exchange liquidity issues. XTRD is creating Joint Venture partnerships with trusted cryptocurrency exchanges to provide clients on those exchanges execution across other exchanges where they do not have accounts by leveraging XTRD’s liquidity pools. An order placed by a client at CEX.IO, XTRD’s first JV partner, can be executed by XTRD at a different exchange where there may be a better price or higher liquidity for a digital asset. Subsequently, XTRD will deliver the position to CEX.IO and then CEX.IO will deliver the execution to the client, with XTRD acting as just another market participant at the CEX.IO exchange.XTRD does not take custody of funds, we are a technology partner with exchanges. All local exchange rules, procedures, and AML/KYC policies apply.
XTRD DARK
Institutions and large market participants who have large orders of 100 BTC or more generally must execute across multiple markets, increasing their counterparty risk, paying enormous commissions and spreads, and generally having to deal with the vagaries of the crypto space. Alternatives are OTC brokers that charge multiple percents or private peer-to-peer swaps which are difficult to effectuate unless one is deeply in the space.XTRD is launching XTRD DARK – a dark liquidity pool to trade crypto vs fiat that matches buyers and sellers of large orders, discreetly and anonymously, at a much lower cost. Liquidity is not displayed so large orders do not move thin markets as they would publicly. The liquidity will come from direct XTRD DARK participants as well as aggregation of retail order flow into block orders, XTRD’s own liquidity pools, connections with decentralized exchanges to effectuate liquidity swaps, and OTC broker order flow.XTRD is partnering with a fiat banking providebroker dealer to onboard all XTRD DARK participants for the fiat currency custody side with full KYC/AML procedures.

XTRD Tokenomics

Who is XTRD intended for?

XTRD is mainly aimed at major institutions, hedge funds, algorithmic traders who are currently unable to enter the crypto markets.
These firms include companies such as Divisa Capital run by XTRD Advisor Mushegh Tovmasyan.

Fees for thought (x-post from /r/Neotrader)

Hi guys,
Long time lurker and just wanted to bring more awareness to the impact that fees have on the purchase price and potential gains/losses. This is particularly relevant to us Aussies with the impact of foreign exchange, may apply to other non-US countries as well. I’ll go through a comparison to illustrate some of the impacts (YMMV). Data from currency, exchanges and price obtained roughly at the same time.
A comparison between three scenarios is as follows:   1. Directly purchasing NEO on Coinspot 2. Purchase Bitcoins with $1,000 AUD on Coinspot, transfer to Binance, purchase NEO on Binance. 3. Purchase Bitcoins with $750 USD on Bittrex, transfer to Binance, purchase on Binance.
Scenario 1: Using Coinspot - Start with $1,000 AUD   - NEO price in AUD (Coinspot): $62 - Formula of 3% purchasing fee: [ ( $1,000 / $62 ) – ( $1,000 / $62 x 1.03) ] x $62 = $29.13 - Actual NEO price in AUD: $63.86 - Approx NEO units: $1,000 / $63.86 = 15.659255 - NEO withdrawal fee: 0.10 - Net cost AUD: $35.52   Scenario 2: Purchase Bitcoins with $1,000 AUD, transfer to Binance, purchase NEO on Binance.   - Bitcoin price in AUD (Coinspot): $5,957 - Formula of 2% purchasing fee: [ ( $1,000 / $5,957) – ( $1,000 / $5,957 x 1.02) ] x $5,957 = $19.61 - Actual price purchased: $6,076 - Approx BTC units: $1,000 / $6,076 = 0.16457817 - BTC withdrawal fee (Coinspot): 0.0005 - Remaining BTC units: 0.16407817 - NEO price in BTC (Binance): 0.010382 - Transaction fee: Nil at the moment - Approx NEO units: 15.804100 - Actual NEO price in AUD: $63.27 - NEO withdrawal fee: Nil at the moment - Net cost AUD: $22.65   Scenario 3: Purchase Bitcoins with $750 USD ($1,000 AUD) on Bittrex, purchase NEO on Binance.   - AUD / USD Exchange rate (AusPost): 0.75 - Bitcoin price in USD: $4,378 - Purchasing fee (not confirmed): 0.25% or $2.50 - Approx BTC units: 0.17074006 - BTC Bittrex withdrawal fee (Reddit): 0.001 - Remaining BTC units: 0.16974006 - NEO price in BTC (Binance): 0.010382 - Transaction fee: Nil at the moment - Approx NEO units: 16.349457 - Actual NEO price in AUD: $61.16 - NEO withdrawal fee: Nil at the moment - Net cost AUD: $14.59   Summary points:   - Comparing scenario 1 and 3 - if you were in scenario 1 and wanted to purchase the equivalent amount of units in scenario 3, you would need the price to rise from $63.86 to $66.67 (about 4.4%).   - You can also purchase NEO on Bittrex which may be cheaper than Binance depending on the buy/sell spread, withdrawal and transaction costs and then you may transfer it to a wallet.   - Why Binance? At the time of this post, there are no transaction/withdrawal costs and holding NEO on the exchange also generates GAS as well as having a BTC / GAS market.   - Scenario 1: There are some implicit costs not mentioned – Forex rate (0.73 vs 0.75, about 2%), purchase price (buy/sell spread $5,957 vs $5,837 about 2%), opportunity cost of comparing against scenario 3 (4.4%).   - Scenario 2: Basically less costs than option 1 but skips obtaining USD.   - Scenario 3: This has preliminary steps to obtain a USD bank account in your location and FOREX costs which may increase the net fee.   - This is not a recommendation of which exchanges to use, but an exercise to show the differences of the effects of fees/costs and to manage your costs if trading which can accumulate quite rapidly.

My experience with Norbit's Gambit [google sheets link included]

Just want to share my experience doing Norbit's Gambit, for anyone that may want to learn on my experience, or tell me all the ways in which I am wrong.
I've posted a question earlier, asking how to make sure the market didn't swing in the wrong direction. And yes, I understand it's called a "gambit" for a reason.
=== TL;DR === - Wanted to save $65 on currency conversion while buying CAD $3,500 worth of US stock - Overestimated forex fee, underestimated NG cost - Murphy happened... - Lost potential gains of CAD $185.80 while waiting - Is the gambit ever worth it?
=== The goal === - On August 25th, use about CAD $3,500 to buy some US Netflix (NFLX) shares
=== The method === - Buy DLR in CAD - Call brokerage to journal over to US side - Sell DLR.U in USD - Buy NFLX with USD
In a lot of my research, I've been told the "fee" when going through the brokerage (Questrade in my case) is 2%. That's not too accurate.
=== The brokerage Forex rate/fee === So I assumed 2% of $3,500 would be $70.
However it's really an addition of 199 basis points to the exchange rate. I believe they use the closing exchange rate on the date of the transaction.
So if the exchange was 1.2500, it's 1.2699, and $CAD 1000 nets $USD 787.46 ($USD 12.54 short of ideal $USD 800). If we convert 12.54 to CAD, it's $CAD 15.68 or 1.568% on the original $CAD 1000.
But if the exchange is 1.2200, it's 1.2399, and $CAD 1000 nets $USD 806.51 ($USD 13.16 short of ideal $USD 819.67). If we convert 13.16 to CAD, it's $CAD 16.06 of 1.606% of the original $CAD 1000
The "conversion fee" is dependent on the exchange rate, but I can't figure out a quick direct way to calculate what the "fee" would be in source currency %. The closest guesstimate is to divide the basis points by the current exchange rate, as below:
On August 25th, the exchange rate was 1.2483. So the above guesstimate for the Forex "fee" would be $55.80. Or more accurately $54.91, close enough. Still, that's 21.5% lower than the broad *$70** estimate earlier.*
=== The NG effective fee === Here once again, the common consensus is that the NG's fee is just a cost of buying and selling an ETF. So, with QT's free ETF purchases, the guesstimate is just about $5 for the selling commission.
When I bought DLR ETF on August 25th, I got it for CAD $12.42 per share (that's not the day's close price, but what I actually paid). the US side of DLR.U is always US $9.93. The gives the DLR Exchange Rate of 1.2508... already different from the ideal 1.2483 (I suppose that's how the ETF makes money)
So, it would appear the cost/fee of NG is just CAD $0.99 + US $5.94 (CAD $8.40)... but not quite. Let's look as the actual US dollar amounts. Since we can only buy whole shares of DLR + ECN fee, from this point I am converting CAD $3,502.44 + $0.99 = $3,503.43
The difference between the ideal US $amount and what I am left with is the "fee" for doing NG. US $12.24, or CAD $15.28. This sets the NG's Effective Exchange Rate as 1.2538 or a "NG's fee" of 0.44%. Please note that this rate/fee is *based on the converted amount*: the more you convert, the less/cheaper it is.
So comparing the actual cost of NG vs QT's auto conversion and the guesstimates is quite different - Actual $15.28 vs $54.91 ($39.63 spread) - Guesstimate $5 vs $70 ($65 spread)
=== The Time factor === Now that I have US $2,794.32, let's buy some NFLX. The date now is Sept 5th (yes, the NG completed earlier, but I am human... also QT didn't call me when the journaling was completed so I got sidetracked).
Before doing the NG, I calculated that NFLX dropped about 2.02% in 10 days. It could also go up by same amount. That 2.02% rise on CAD $3,500 value would be a gain of $70.7... comparable to $65 guesstimate loss of doing currency auto-conversion through QT (QTAC). So in my analysis, at worth case it would be a wash, in best case I save some money on NG. ... We already know now that the actual cost of QTAC is much less ....
This was the end result of my NG: spent CAD $3,503.43 and 11 days later I have a US stock+cash Portfolio of value US $2,789.37
But considering the increase in NFLX stock over those 11 days, what if I would have just went with Questrade's Auto-conversion (QTAC) route?
In 11 days, the value of NFLX is @178.79 - Current value of 16 NFLX shares = US $2,860.64 - Plus cash US $77.57 for a Total Portfolio Value of US $2,938.21
If, on August 25th, I would have auto converted currency with QT and bought NFLX, I would have a portfolio value of US $2,938.21 on September 5th.
Instead, starting the Norbit's Gambit on August 25th, I bought NFLX on Sept 5th and have a portfolio value of US $2,789.37
Instead of saving a guesstimate of CAD $65, I have lost potential gains of US $148.84 or CAD $185.80
=== Murphy... or Loonie... whatever === In all of above, I tried to keep the currency fluctuations isolated. So apart from initial conversion on August 25th, all my future (September 5th) portfolio values were in USD. But as Murphy would have it, the BoC rate announcement made the loonie stronger in between my NG.
Based on above, doing QT auto-conversion - On August 25th, nets US $2,762.52 - On September 5th, nets US $2,817.62 I would have got US $55.10 more just by doing the QTAC later.
If I would have bought NFLX on September 5th after doing QTAC - 15 whole shares @178.79 + $4.95 comm leaves me with US $130.82 in cash - Total NFLX + Cash portfolio value of US $2,812.67
That's still US $23.30 more than doing the NG, although still less than just buying NFLX outright on August 25th and letting it grow.
=== Final conclusion === Smaller amount (CAD $3,500) for NG for a stock purchase that could/did swing 6% was not worth it. Loonie getting stronger also made the whole exercise fruitless, but even eliminating the currency fluctuation, the growth of the stock outperformed the savings of NG.
Playing with my numbers, assuming the currency fluctuation is fixed, for CAD $3,500, doing Norbit's Gambit vs Questrade's Auto-Conversion is breaking even when the stock appreciation is no more than 1.18% during the time it takes to complete NG (11 days in my case). Even if you are more punctual and can complete it in 5 days, you still need to make sure the stock doesn't appreciate more than 1.18% in 5 days.
By comparison, if converting CAD $10,000, it's break even if stock rises 1.27% during that time. When doing CAD $50,000 then 1.31%
Hmm.... so even at high amounts of CAD $50,000 the tolerance to stock fluctuation is pretty low. So is it worth it?
Ultimately I've:
For anyone that cares, here is public Google Sheets docs to verify my math (File -> Make a copy, in order to edit values) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12nH8Q_0cKFtFTW_yomASHtpLXN6oYuTgkXeTNAMkQGY/edit?usp=sharing

Crypto markets till 2030 ideas

The CRYPTO market till 2030
I am just a damn dude writing a thing in my spare time no one paid me and my total crypto holdings are less than $500. THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE AND IS JUST FOR FUN. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INVESTMENT DECISIONS YOU MAKE.
Obviously, I don’t have a crystal ball but this is me and my brain on one of its endless rabbit holes considering all possibilities.
I am heavily relying on a model of the internet’s fundamental tenants and timeline for this as a comparison jumping off point.
The next 6-18 months (July 2018- Dec 2019)
Considering the pending expected flood of “institutional money” people can generally predict this will occur after the round of regulations is finalized however by the end of 2018 I don’t see as accurate. Why? Well, the short answer is Taxes. The long answer is taxes applying to investments made after Jan 1st for the 2020 Q1 tax filings. Thus the 18 possible months for institutional investments in any real way. We might get a few brave institutions or those who want in early before other smaller institutions in 2019 but not many till at least Jan 1st.
During this time, we are in a period of risk of possible financial recession since those occur about every 10 years or so and the last was in 2008. This might drive investments into crypto if the institutions are smart enough to turn a quick profit, which they are, and market their new asset class as like gold. I guarantee a few will figure this out and it will make those initial investors some good money maybe even equal out their positions and allow them to play with the space more. Further, I wholly expect the institutions who are in early or in large positions to create a new version of a coin that already exists in the market, The stable coin. Currently, this is dominated by the coin called USDT or tether for short and I would expect that coin or a “wall street backed” version to rise to major prominence in the market. That is at least till a recession gets bad enough to cause problems for the FED & US government more generally.
The uncertainty of such a possible recession will put eyes on the governments to do something and I am sure as always, their answer will be new regulations on the financial sector. This might take an interesting turn and due to the finical sector playing around with their new stable coins they will probably draw the ire of the FED due to them basically printing USD. The FED’s response to this will arguably be to get new regulations passed giving them full control over all USD “stable coins”* arguing something like we lost/are losing control over our currency. Further, this will probably soon spread to other countries/regions like Europe, China, Japan, etc. with Euro and Yen coins especially if the recession reaches that far.
This will be a blessing in disguise for the space as this will allow many billions more dollars to flow into the crypto spaces alt coins due to the preaching of the extremists who have maintained since the beginning that crypto will “remove government control from money” they will drive those who are disillusioned due to the recession into the crypto space for security along with the normal holdouts into more traditional investments like actual gold & silver. This will increase speculation on alt coins and lead to the next phase.
*This could happen early in the next section as well around 2020 as governments move slowly on such issues.
The Early 2020’s (This is where things start to get fuzzy but some general ideas remain)
The drive of speculation due to the centralization of the new “stable coins” will lead a few to distrust the governments and put more money into the top crypto projects whatever they may be at that time. This will coincide with the expected halvening of bitcoin at or about the 2020 mark. When the halvening occurs, we can probably expect the mining pools that determine to an extent the floor on bitcoins price to need to up the price to keep their profit margins.
This, in my opinion, will cause the next market cycle for the crypto space. The combination of new stable coin money and the promotion of bitcoin to people who need to recover from a recession by the mining/staking pools. Those two events in conjunction will cause the price to double and then take off with a new round of FOMO. Alas it will not last in my opinion as it will have served its purpose to the miners/stakers and then coming decoupled from that goal advertising will fall and the big hands will start to sell knowing the pattern of the space.
This will cause another drop driven by futures contracts that will stabilize where the miners need it to keep their profit margins and maybe a little more. This will cause a new round of uncertainty and a new accumulation period will begin. Leading to the next phase
The Mid to late 2020’s (this is just straight up predictions about the mother of all crypto bubbles)
The new accumulation period will quite possibly continue for a bit longer than the last few due to the lagging economy after a recession. However, after that begins to end in pockets around the world we can see an uptick in the space as by then we will really start to see the formation of the big players for the future of crypto. Who they will be is unknown but my bet is anyone not in the top 20 now will have a hard time making an adoptable product. Perhaps the underlying protocol of these stable coins will have a good chance as that won’t be too far removed from government regulations and allow it to grow.
Thus, a product that can build stable coins on it and not cause too much inflation long term might be a good thing to do research on. That to me is the most obvious bet going right now but its anyone’s guesses who that is as there are multiple protocols that can be built on top of now or have plans to do so soon. That’s the fight to watch in altcoins.
At any rate governments, the world over will be scrambling to get their own stable coins by this point and that will allow them to have a new degree of finical control over their citizens. We will see traditionally corrupt governments have their challenges with the tech but overall it will allow them to monetize & identify people they otherwise wouldn’t be able to and thus the tech will penetrate this market. Providing access to the worlds poor and an identity on which to build their lives is a critical goal of using crypto for good causes but it will be abused as a new form of surveillance and control. Thus, I wholly expect that outside the major markets of the world there will arise a privacy coin that will irritate many. There will be advocates for such a coin in the bigger markets as some already exist, but most won’t use it because of the old “I have nothing to hide mentality” but that won’t tamp down its existence in the smaller markets where people find it to be a tool to resist their governments much like VPN products now.
A large amount of new freely tradeable crypto money from these stable coins will cause people who have just been given franchise over money and their own identity for the first time their first real shot at making some money…in speculation. This will take the form of speculation on the bigger products whatever they may be at that point causing a new round of FOMO and this one will be truly multi-trillions humongous. That will go much like the dot-com bubble was as the crypto craze or some catchy marketing phrase like that.
Conclusion:
  1. If you want to make money in this space be prepared to evaluate your position carefully over the next decade or so on a regular basis. Aka don’t blindly HODL.
  2. Watch for platforms that can build systems on top of them for the upcoming stable coin market shift.
  3. Decentralization is what will make projects survive long term outside of governments. Thus, if your current investment coin(s) tends to centralize via mining pools, staking pools, elector nodes, inflation paid to certain groups, etc. watch closely as in a decade it could be a monster that is sudo-controlled by early invested groups even if it claims to be decentralized. **
  4. Stable coins being centralized in the way described above way will probably become the new currency exchanged on platforms like forex.
  5. Understand this is a risky investment class you could lose everything.
** this will be contentious as f*** I know, debate to your hearts content, scream FUD all you want but you will be doing a disservice to the community in possibly your own financial interest delaying*** actual societal use cases by decades and harming people who would benefit just from use and not monetary gain of the crypto technology.
***keyword delay. Not stop delay. Usually via some form of political bullshit again possibly lasting decades and that usually ends with people shooting each other, especially over money but what do I know.

message meant to prevent humanity's destruction and to speed its evolution.

The following is a message meant to prevent humanity's destruction and to speed its evolution. Every War since the beginning of time has been over land or resources. World War 2 was an absolute brutal and ugly display of humanity, with nearly 4% of the world population dying. Once the nuclear bomb was detonated the stakes became even higher, and the people in power's main job was to prevent global conflict from breaking out. The US's military might was this groups way of maintaining global order with 1 tool being their maintence of the dollar as a reserve currency. This Bretton Woods system was deflationary in nature, but everyone could be in agreement with a very strong peg to gold, and effectively a true gold backing that was only redeemed by foreign governments and central banks. In 1971 the US effectively went bankrupt closing the redeemability of dollars into gold, attempting to fund the Vietnam war. After the closing of the gold window maintence of the dollar as a reserve currency required much more coercion. There was an oil Embargo in 1973. Inflation roared. The medling into political affairs of nations to ensure that oil and other commodities were purchased with paper us dollars that no longer had any backing, created a lot of resentment and ill will towards the US which ultimately evolved into Islamic Extremism. Today the dollar is still the reserve currency of the world, and despite all the negative associated with it, there are no realistic alternatives. With the well structured bond market, highly regulated stock market, clearly outlined forward guidance of the central banks money printing, and extremely liquid forex markets, as well as the largest economy, all the other alternatives are merely inferior fiat currencies themselves. However, with all the technological advances, and growth of the economy, we are still working harder than ever. We see the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. What is the real reason behind this? Ultimately, what inflation does, is over time it transfers wealth from the working class, to the assett owning class. Deflation can be equally problematic for humanity as well. With a gold backing, it inherently causes deflation over time. This effecively slows down the velocty of money, and artifically restricts economic activity. To fully back currency today with gold would effectively send the price of gold soaring, and the market would tell humanity to specifically search for a lot more gold. This is a commodity that by its very nature, humanity digs up out of the ground, only to be stored and put back right into the ground without creating any real benefit to humanity in terms of additional goods, services, or more efficient means of production. The largest source of money getting printed out of thin air is government debt, which is now a global standard for the way countries and central banks operate. When the government has to borrow large sums of money to continue operating, the central bank can facilitate this instantly, but the purchasing power of all the other dollars in existence truly depreciates. This transfer of wealth then effectively gets moved into an entity that can then be heavily influenced on where to spend that money by special interests who exagerate or manufacture problems to influence what problems governments need to fix, and ultimately enriches themselves in the process. Sure, there are social programs that provide assistance, but the amount of money spend on war in comparison to the amount spent on social programs is in great imbalance. And that amount spent on war greatly enriches all the companies that supply those weapons and war time services, incentivising them to exaggerate and manufacturer threats. This all begs the question, what is the solution? The US, being in the best position to execute, would effectively create a new dollar. They would take their gold reserve, and back a certain percentage of the new currency with this. The second biggest % would be of oil as well. Now as it stands, the US strategic oil reserve is holding roughly 30 Billion approximately 600 million barrels. This would need to be drastically expanded. However, this is the single most cost effective method to preserve national security in the US, where 600B was spent in 2015 on the military. A tax would also need to be imposed on oil to subsidize alternative energy and climate research. The rest of the reserve would be a combination of copper, silver, palladium, platinum, steel, alluminum, and other commodities. The greater the variety of commodities incorporated, the more the inflationary effects will be spread out. Ultimately every country would adopt the same system with a basket of commodities tailored to their countries natural reserves and competitive advantages. A percentage of this new currency would also be foreign currency holdings to facilitate liquid exchange between currencies. What would happen, is a baseline could be established of commodities prices. If the market price of 1 of the underlying commodities rise, then the commodity could be sold into the market to dampen the price rise, and if a commodity fell, then new dollars could be printed to buy into and dampen the drop, effectively smoothing out any short term supply demand imbalances without taking the money out of the marketplace for expensive yaughts and houses. The amount of new dollars that could be created would be limited by the set percentage of commodities that a single unit would be redeemable for. These set percentages could have a little wiggle room to account for all the transactions going in and out each day, but would serve as a hard limit. This would also keep US commodities producers in business, and would create an environment where more human energy was spent on gathering resources. Once the resources have been stock piled, those resources would be used to build and construct things creating economic activity. This would create a perpetual cycle of production and abundance. It would at first simply be a stable currency that everyone would want to willingly adopt as the standard medium of global trade. Then the economic utopia created in the US will serve as a model for the rest of the world to want to willingly adopt. This would effectively smooth out markets, and remove speculators who simply skim off the top without actually contributing anything to society. Boom and bust cycles would not be exaccerbated in the manner in which they are now. There would still be a federal reserve system that would act as a central bank to coordinate interest rates, set reserve requirements, and be a lender of last resort. The key difference would be that they could not simply print new federal reserve notes out of thin air to bail out governments or bailout the banking system as a whole. They could only deposit and take deposits of CASH. There would need to be an orderly mechanism for all banks to fail where the depositors are first in line for all assets, and shareholders are last in line. There also would need to be coordination to ensure that asset prices do not spiral down, unneccesarily destroying the banking system whose health is determined by the underlying asset values of the loans it holds. However, what needs to cease immediately is the perpetual printing of money, to continue increasing asset values, in an effort to print their way out of massive debt. This is where the transfer of wealth occurs from the working class, to the assett owning class. Governments then step in to try to fill in the gaps with social programs, but there is massive waste that occurs from the simple government redistribution of wealth back, and it never keeps up with the initial theft. Hence why we are working harder than ever despite all the technological and social progress that has been made. So essentially the new monetary authority has the sole ability to print new money by direct purchases into commodities markets. Now all existing federal reserve notes will be pegged 1 to 1 in value with the new dollar. Both dollars would always be valid for all debts public and private. However, no new federal reserve notes could be created, only the new dollar when an equivalent amount of the right commodities is brought to the entity that maintains the integrity of the new dollar. Individuals, foreign governments, and everyone in between would always have the right to redeem the underlying ratio of commodities on demand, and anyone could have a dollar created that brought the set ratio of underlying commodities to the same entity. This mechanism would be the only way in which new money would be created. This would completely change humanity from a consumption based economy to a production based economy. At the end of the day, the central bank would work in conjunction with the new monetary authority to maintain price stability as the ONLY goal. One problem that arises is the fact that all recipients of loans, including the US government, took out loans with the assumption that future dollars would be less valuable then current dollars. If future loans have to be paid back with dollars worth the same as current dollars and not less, this effectively increases the price of all loans beyond what people agreed to when they took out the loans. Since the Feds stated target inflation rate is 3%, every year that inflation is less, all loans should technically have the interest rate or principal revised lower, because they are being paid back with less inflated, more expensive dollars. However, the initial inflationary effect of simple implementation of this system also has to be factored in that would in affect counteract this to a large degree. This would lead to a global abundance with very little unemployment and large scale coordination of resources. There would be equitable distribution of resources amongst all classes. Every person would become a net producer instead of a net consumer by leveraging technology and economies of scale for production and organization. There would be great people doing great things uninhibited, which would inspire others to do great things, which pushes all of humanity forward. The military would shift focus to simple defense of the resource storage facilities, but would gradually be reduced as humanity comes further and futher together. To obtain ever more resources to fuel our growth, we would simply expand into outer space. Its this shift to abundance that leads to humanity essentially ascending, which simply means colonization of space. Once humanity reaches this point, they will be welcomed into the amalgamation. -The Amalgamation

Forex.com?

I have been trading and using forex.com for about the last 4 months and I am relatively happy with their platforms, execution, spreads and customer service. This is my first forex broker but I do have experience with some futures brokers. Does anyone else have any experience with them Forex.com? Is there anything I am missing out on from other US based brokers? One of my favorite things about them is their mobile app. and web based trading platforms. It allows me to monitor and adjust positions while on the go. One thing I do feel that is lacking in comparison to a shop like FXCM is the amount of unique analysis content. All and any comments are appreciated.

Any scalpers(5pips) recommend a low spreads broker(UK)?

Not sure if there are any scalpers here but I just want to get a sense of what spreads you have?
Mainly for the GBPJPY & EURJPY and any other exotics?
Also if you could recommend any brokers that would be helpful?
EDIT: I found a comparison website http://www.myfxbook.com/forex-broker-spreads

Brokerages:
There are many factors to consider when choosing a brokerage. Regulations typically force US traders to only trade at US brokerages, while international traders have more choice. After considering location you need to consider how much capital you will start trading with as many have minimum deposit levels. Once you’ve narrowed that down you can compared spreads and execution. ECN brokers execute your orders straight through to their liquidity providers, while market maker brokers may pair up your trades with other clients. Market maker brokers typically will partially hedge your positions on the interbank market. Many consider this to be a conflict of interest and prefer to trade at an ECN broker who would have an active motive to see you succeed. Lastly, brokers run inherently risky business models so it is important to consider the risk of bankruptcy.

FAQ:
I need to exchange money, how do I do it?
This isn’t what this sub is for. Your best bet is using your bank or an online exchange service. Be prepared to pay a hefty fee.
I have money in one currency and need to exchange it into another sometime in the future, should I wait?
Don’t ask us this. We speculate intraday in FX and shouldn’t be relied on to tell you what’s best for you. Exchange the money when you need it.
I have an FX account, should I start trading demo or live?
This is highly debatable. You should definitely demo trade until you have mastered how to use the trading platform on desktop and mobile. After that it’s up to you. Many think that the psychology of trading live vs demo trading is massively different. So it may pay to learn to trade live. Just be warned that most FX traders lose almost their entire first account so start with a low affordable balance.
What’s money management?
Money management is a form of risk management and is arguably the most important aspect of your trading when it comes to long term survival. You should always enter trades with a stop loss - the distance of the stop allows you to calculate how large of a percent of your account balance will be lost if your trade stops out. You can run a monte carlo simulation to figure out the risk of having a number of trades go against you in a row to drain your account. The general rule is that you should only risk losing 1-4% of your account per trade entered.

What about automated trading?
Retail FX traders have been known to program “Expert Advisors” (EAs) to automate trading. It’s generally advisable to stay away from that until you’re very experienced. Never buy an EA from a developer because the vast majority of them are scams.
What indicators are best?
That’s up to you to test and find out. Many in this forum dislike oscillating indicators since they fail to capture the essence of what moves price. With experience you will discover what works best for you. In my experience indicators that are most popular with professional traders are those that provide trading “levels” such as pivot points, fibonacci, moving averages, trendlines, etc.
What timeframe should I trade?
Price action can vary in different timeframes. In longer term timeframes the price action and fundamentals are much more clear. Unfortunately it would take a very long time to figure out whether or not what you’re doing is successful on longer timeframes. In shorter timeframes you can often tell very quickly if what you’re doing is profitable. Unfortunately there’s a lot more “noise” on these levels which can prove deceptive for those trying to learn. Therefore the best bet is to use a multi-timeframe analysis, working from top-down to come up with trades.
Should I trade using fundamental analysis (FA) of technical analysis (TA)?
This is a long standing argument in these forums and elsewhere. I’ll settle it here - you should have an understanding of both. Yes there are traders who blindly ignore one of the other but a truly well rounded trader should understand and implement both into the analysis. The market is driven in the longer term through FA. But TA is necessary to give traders a place to enter and exit trades from a psychological risk/reward standpoint.
I’ve heard trading Binary Options is an easy way to make money?
The general advice is to stay away from binaries. The structure of binary options is so that when you lose the broker wins. This incentive has created a very scammy industry where there are few legitimate binary options brokers. In addition in order to be profitable in binaries you have to win 55-65% of the time. That’s a much higher premium over spot FX.
Am I actually exchanging currencies?
Yes and no. Your broker handles spot FX is currency pairs. Although they make an exchange at the settlement date they treat your position in your account as a virtual currency pair. Think of it like a contract where you can only buy or sell it as a pair. In this sense you are always long one currency while short another. You are merely speculating that one currency will appreciate or depreciate vs another.
Why didn't my order fill?
Even if price appears to cross over a line on your chart it does not guarantee a fill. Different charting platforms chart different prices - some chart the bid price, some the ask price and some the midpoint price. To fill a limit order price needs to cross your limit's price plus the spread at the time that it is crossing. If it does not equal or exceed the spread then it will not fill. Be wary that in general spreads are not fixed. So what may fill at one time may not at another.
