KYC is absolutely not acceptable for MakerDAO!
I've heard that founder of MakerDAO is not strictly against KYC. I have a message to whole community and specifically to a founder of MakerDAO Rune Christensen. I will explain using concrete examples why having KYC in MakerDAO is a grave mistake and it will lead to MakerDAO fork. Many people in the first world never actually understand why financial privacy and financial inclusion is important. Even people (in the first world) who seemingly supportive of such ideas are not able to provide any concrete examples of why it's actually important. Unfortunately, I was born in a "wrong" country (Uzbekistan) and I experienced first hand what financial exclusion actually means. I know first hand that annoying feeling when you read polite, boilerplate rejection letter from financial institution based in first world. So I had to become practical libertarian. I'm going to give you concrete examples of financial discrimination against me. Then I'm going to explain fundamental reasons why it happens. And finally, I'm going to explain my vision for DAI. Back in 2005, I lived in Uzbekistan. I had an idea to invest in US stocks. I was very naive and I didn't know anything about investing, compliance, bank transfers, KYC etc. All I knew is nice long term charts of US stocks and what P/E means. I didn't contact any US brokerage but I checked information about account opening and how to transfer money there. I approached local bank in Uzbekistan and asked how to transfer money to Bank of New York. Banker's face was like - WOW, WTF?!?! They asked me to go to private room to talk with senior manager. Senior manager of local bank in Uzbekistan asked me why I wanted to transfer money to US. They told me that it's absolutely impossible to transfer money to US/EU and pretty much anywhere. I approached nearly every local bank in the town and they told me the same. In 2012, I already lived in Moscow and acquired Russian citizenship. I got back to my old idea - investing in US stocks. I called to many US brokerages and all of them politely rejected me. Usually when I called I asked them if I can open an account with them. They told me to hold on line. After long pause, I was able to speak with "senior" support who politely explain me that Russia in their list of restricted countries and they can't open an account for me. Finally, I was able to open an account with OptionsXpress. Next challenge was to convince local Russian bank to transfer money to US. Back then in 2012, I was able to get permission to do so. So you might say - is this happy end? Fast forwarding US brokerage story to 2017, OptionsXpress was acquired by Charles Schwab. I was notified that my OptionsXpress account will be migrated to Charles Schwab platform. In 2017, I already lived in the Netherlands (but still having Russian citizenship). I wasn't happy with my stupid job in the Netherlands. I called Charles Schwab and asked if I quit my job in the Netherlands and have to return to Russia, what will happen with my account. Schwab told me that they will restrict my account, so I can't do anything except closing my account. So even if I was long term customer of OptionsXpress, Charles Schwab is not fully okay with me. Going back to 2013, I still lived in Russia. I had another idea. What if I quit my job and build some SAAS platform (or whatever) and sell my stuff to US customers. So I need some website which accept US credit cards. I contacted my Russian bank (who previously allowed me to transfer money to OptionsXpress) about steps to make in order to accept US credit cards in Russia. I've been told explicitly in email that they won't allow me to accept US credit cards under any circumstances. Back then I still believed in "the free west". So I thought - no problem, I will just open bank account abroad and do all operations from my foreign account. I planned vacation in Hong Kong. And Hong Kong is freest economy in the world. Looks like it's right place to open bank account. I contacted HSBC Hong Kong via email. Their general support assured me that I can open bank account with them if I'm foreigner. I flew to Hong Kong for vacation and visited HSBC branch. Of course, they rejected me. But they recommended me to visit last floor in their HQ building, they told me that another HSBC branch specializes on opening bank accounts for foreigners. I went there and they said minimum amount to open bank account is 10 mil HKD (1.27 mil USD). Later I learned that it's called private banking. When I relocated to the Netherlands, I asked ABN Amro staff - what's happen with my bank account if I quit/lose my job in the Netherlands and have to return back to Russia. I've been told that I can't have my dutch bank account if I go back to Russia even if I already used their bank for 2+ years. I still had idea that I would like to quit my job and do something for myself. The problem is that I'm Russian citizen and I don't have any residency which is independent from my employment. So if I quit my job in the Netherlands, I have to return back to Russia. I wanted to see how I would get payments from US/EU customers. I found Stripe Atlas, it's so exciting, they help you to incorporate in US, and even help with banking, all process of receiving credit card payments is very smooth. But as usual in my case, there is a catch - Russia in their list of restricted countries. Speaking of centralized compliance-friendly (e.g. KYC) crypto exchanges. This year I live and work in Hong Kong. Earlier this year, I thought it would be nice to have an account at local crypto exchange in Hong Kong so I can quickly transfer money from my bank account in Hong Kong to crypto exchange using FPS (local payment system for fast bank transfers). What could go wrong? After all Hong Kong is freest economy in the world, right? I submitted KYC documents to crypto exchange called Weever including copy of my Hong Kong ID as they requested. They very quickly responded that they need copy of my passport as well. I submitted copy of my Russian passport. This time they got silent. After a few days, they sent me email saying that Russia is on the US Office of Foreign Assets Control sanction list, so they just require me to fill a form about source of the funds. I told them that the source of my funds is salary, my Hong Kong bank can confirm that along with my employment contract. They got very silent after I sent them a filled form. After a week of silence I asked them - when my account get approved? They said that their compliance office will review my application soon. And they got very silent again. I waited for two or three weeks. Then I asked them again. And I immediately got email with title - Rejection for Weever Account Opening. And text of email was:
We are sorry to inform you that Weever may not be able to accept your account opening application at this stage.
Exactly the same situation I had with one crypto exchange in Europe back in 2017. Luckily I have accounts at other crypto exchanges including Gemini, one of most compliance obsessed exchange in the world. Although I don't keep my money there because I can't trust them, who knows what might come into head of their compliance officer one sunny day. By the way, I'm living and working outside of Russia for quite a few years. The situation with crypto exchanges is much worse for those who still living in Russia. I give you a few other examples of financial discrimination is not related to troubles with my Russian citizenship. Back in 2018, I still lived in the Netherlands. I logged in into my brokerage account just to buy US ETFs as I always do - SPY and QQQ. I placed my order and it failed to fill. I thought it's just a technical problem with my brokerage account. After a few failed attempts to send buy orders for SPY and QQQ, I contacted their support. What they told me was shocking and completely unexpected. They said I'm not permitted to buy US ETFs anymore as EU resident because EU passed a law to protect retail investors. So as a EU resident I'm allowed to be exposed to more risk by buying individual US stocks but I'm not allowed to reduce my risk by buying SPY because ... EU wants to protect me. I felt final result of new law. By the way, on paper their law looks fine. And the final example. It's a known fact that US public market become less attractive in recent decades. Due to heavy regulatory burden companies prefer to go public very late. So if successful unicorn startup grows from its inception/genesis to late adoption, company's valuation would be 3-5 orders of orders of magnitude. For example, if valuation of successful company at inception is 1 Mil USD, then at its very latest stage it's valuation would be 10 Bil USD. So we have 10'000 times of growth. In the best case scenario, company would go public at 1 Bil USD 5-10 years before reaching its peak 10 Bil USD. So investors in private equity could enjoy 1000 fold growth and just leave for public only last 10 fold growth stretched in time. In the worst case scenario, company would go public at 10 Bil USD, i.e. at its historical peak. But there are well known platforms to buy shares of private companies, one of such platforms is Forge Global. You can buy shares of almost all blue chip startups. You can even invest in SpaceX! But as always, there is a catch - US government wants to protect not just US citizens but all people in the world (sounds ridiculous, right?). US law requires you to have 1 Mil USD net worth or 200'000 USD annual income if you want to buy shares of non-public company. So if you are high-net worth individual you can be called "accredited investor". Funny thing is that the law intends to protect US citizens but even if you are not US citizen and never even lived in US, this law is still applies to you in practice. So if you are "poor loser", platforms like Forge Global will reject you. So high-net worth individuals have access and opportunity to Bitcoin-style multi-magnitude growth every 5-10 years. Contrary to private equity markets, US public markets is low risk/low return type of market. If you have small amount of capital, it's just glorified way to protect yourself from inflation plus some little return on top. It's not bad, US public market is a still great way to store your wealth. But I'm deeply convinced that for small capital you must seek fundamentally different type of market - high risk/high return. It's just historical luck that Bitcoin/Ethereum/etc were available for general public from day one. But in reality, viral/exponential growth is happening quite often. It's just you don't have access to such type of markets due to regulatory reasons. I intentionally described these examples of financial discrimination in full details as I experienced them because I do feel that vast majority of people in the first world honestly think that current financial system works just fine and only criminals and terrorists are banned. In reality that's not true at all. 99.999% of innocent people are completely cut off from modern financial system in the name of fighting against money laundering. Here is a big picture why it's happening. There are rich countries (so called western world) and poor countries (so called third world). Financial wall is carefully built by two sides. Authoritarian leaders of poor countries almost always want full control over their population, they don't like market economy, and since market forces don't value their crappy legal system (because it works only for close friends of authoritarian leader) they must implement strict capital control. Otherwise, all capital will run away from their country because nobody really respects their crappy legal system. It only has value under heavy gun of government. Only friends of authoritarian leader can move their money out of country but not you. Leaders of rich countries want to protect their economy from "dirty money" coming from third world. Since citizens of poor countries never vote for leaders of rich countries nobody really cares if rich country just ban everyone from poor country. It's the most lazy way to fight against money laundering - simply ban everyone from certain country. Actually if you look deeper you will see that rich countries very rarely directly ban ordinary people from third world. Usually, there is no such law which doesn't allow me to open bank account somewhere in Europe as non-EU resident. What's really happens is that US/EU government implement very harsh penalties for financial institutions if anything ever goes wrong. So what's actually happens is that financial institutions (banks, brokerages etc) do de-risking. This is the most important word you must know about traditional financial system! So if you have wrong passport, financial institution (for example) bank from rich country just doesn't want to take any risks dealing with you even if you are willing to provide full documentation about your finances. It's well known fact that banks in Hong Kong, Europe, US like to unexpectedly shutdown accounts of thousands innocent businesses due to de-risking. So it's actually de-risking is the real reason why I was rejected so many times by financial institutions in the first world!!! It's de-risking actually responsible for banning 99.999% of innocent people. So governments of rich democratic countries formally have clean hands because they are not banning ordinary people from third world directly. All dirty job is done by financial institutions but governments are well aware of that, it's just more convenient way to discriminate. And nobody actually cares! Ordinary citizens in rich countries are never exposed to such problems and they really don't care about people in third world, after all they are not citizens of US/EU/UK/CH/CA/HK/SG/JP/AU/NZ. And now are you ready for the most hilarious part? If you are big corrupt bureaucrat from Russia you are actually welcome by the first world financial institutions! All Russian's junta keep their stolen money all across Europe and even in US. You might wonder how this is possible if the western financial system is so aggressive in de-risking. Here is a simple equation which financial institution should solve when they decide whether to open an account for you or not: Y - R = net profit Where: Y - how much profit they can make with you; R - how much regulatory risk they take while working with you; That's it! It's very simple equation. So if you are really big junta member from Russia you are actually welcome according to this equation. Banks have special name for serving (ultra) high-net worth individuals, it's called private banking. It's has nothing to do with the fact that bank is private. It's just fancy name for banking for rich. So what's usually happen in real world. Some Estonian or Danish bank got caught with large scale money laundering from Russia. European leaders are ashamed in front of their voters. They implement new super harsh law against money laundering to keep their voters happy. Voters are ordinary people, they don't care about details of new regulations. So banks get scared and abruptly shutdown ALL accounts of Russian customers. And European voters are happy. Modern money laundering laws are like shooting mouse in your house using bazooka! It's very efficient to kill mouse, right? Now imagine world without financial borders. It's hard to do so because we are all get so used to current status quo of traditional financial system. But with additional effort you can start asking questions - if Internet economy is so global and it doesn't really matter where HQ of startup is located, why they are all concentrated in just a few tiny places like Silicon Valley and ... well, that's mostly it if you count the biggest unicorns! Another question would be - why so many talented russian, indian, chinese programmers just go to the same places like San Francisco, London and make super rich companies like Amazon, Google, Facebook, Apple to get even richer? If all you need is laptop and access to internet, why you don't see any trade happening between first and third world? Well actually there is a trade between first and third world but it's not exactly what I want to see. Usually third world countries sell their natural resources through giant corporations to the first world. So it's possible to get access to the first world market from third world but this access usually granted only to big and established companies (and usually it means not innovative). Unicorns are created through massive parallel experiment. Every week bunch of new startups are created in Silicon Valley. Thousands and thousands startups are created in Silicon Valley with almost instant access to global market. Just by law of large numbers you have a very few of them who later become unicorns and dominate the world. But if you have wrong passport and you are located in "wrong" country where every attempt to access global market is very costly, then you most likely not to start innovative startup in the first place. In the best case scenario, you just create either local business or just local copy-paste startup (copied from the west) oriented on (relatively small) domestic market. Obviously in such setup it's predictable that places like Silicon Valley will have giant advantage and as a result all unicorns get concentrated in just a few tiny places. In the world without financial barriers there will be much smaller gap between rich and poor countries. With low barrier of entry, it won't be a game when winner takes all. Whole architecture of decentralized cryptocurrencies is intended to remove middle man and make transactions permissionless. Governments are inherently opposite to that, they are centralized and permissioned. Therefore, decentralized cryptocurrencies are fundamentally incompatible with traditional financial system which is full of middle mans and regulations (i.e. permissions). Real value of crypto are coming from third world, not the first world. People are buying crypto in rich countries just want to invest. Their financial system and their fiat money are more or less already working for them. So there is no immediate urgency to get rid of fiat money in the first world. So the first world citizens buying crypto on centralized KYCd exchanges are essentially making side bet on the success of crypto in third world. Real and natural environment of cryptocurrencies is actually dark OTC market in places like Venezuela and China. But cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum have a big limitation to wide adoption in third world - high volatility. So the real target audience is oppressed (both by their own government and by first world governments) ordinary citizens of third world countries yet they are least who can afford to take burden of high volatility. Right now, Tether is a big thing for dark markets across the world (by the way, dark market doesn't automatically imply bad!). But Tether soon or later be smashed by US/EU regulators. The only real and working permissionless stable cryptocurrency (avoiding hyped word - stablecoin) is DAI. DAI is the currency for post-Tether world to lead dark OTC market around the world and subvert fiat currencies of oppressive third world governments. Once DAI become de-facto widespread currency in shadow economy in all of third world, then it will be accepted (after many huge push backs from governments) as a new reality. I'm talking about 10-20+ years time horizon. But if MakerDAO chooses the route of being compliance friendly then DAI will lose its real target audience (i.e. third world). I can not imagine US/EU calmly tolerate someone buying US stocks and using as a collateral to issue another security (i.e. DAI) which is going to be traded somewhere in Venezuela! You can not be compliance friendly and serve people in Venezuela. Facebook's Libra was stupidest thing I've seen. It's extremely stupid to ask permission from the first world regulators to serve third world and create borderless economy. Another stupid thing is to please third world governments as well. For example, Libra (if ever run) will not serve Indian, Chinese, Venezuelan people. Who is then going to use stupid Libra? Hipsters in Silicon Valley? Why? US dollars are good enough already.
Ballet is designed as an easy entry point to store Cryptocurrencies in a secure way. Especially when new to the Crypto-space, it is not only easier to understand the functionality of Bitcoin when having a physical device, but also more secure. The ballet wallet is a piece of hardware that is disconnected from the Internet, very simple to use and most importantly non-electronic which makes it the first of its kind. Users do not need to worry about hard-ware issues that are normally associated to hardware solutions such as bluetooth pairing, batteries or cables. Our solution requires no installment or setup — it is ready to use right away. In addition, besides Bitcoin it also supports ERC-20 tokens and stable coins. https://preview.redd.it/ff5fa809nk941.png?width=3040&format=png&auto=webp&s=6605318c37aa1d60dc3bd13f518b9aeacb7359a9
Who is this for?
Primarily, the Ballet Wallet is built for everyone new to Crypto. Signing up on an exchange, buying the first cryptocurrencies and storing them on a secure wallet is a complex and time-consuming process. Especially for non blockchainer’s or just occasional Internet-users, this might even prevent them to not get into Crypto. We believe that in order to achieve mass-adoption, we need to lower the entry-barriers and simplify the user experience while providing highest security and privacy. Therefore we created Ballet. Our mission is to eliminate bothersome steps that hinder adoption for cryptocurrencies. If you understand what a SEED-Phrase is or how to generate your private keys, maybe this isn’t for you. However, it might be something for your family-members, your neighbour or colleague at work? We target people that are interested but just don’t know (or don’t care) where and how to get started.
Here’s How to Get Started:
Our core aim is to build an easy-to-use crypto wallet. Using the BIP-38 standard to enable secure passphrase encryption, the private keys are automatically pre-generated and engraved onto the card. There are no intermediate-steps for card activation or separately storage of private keys required. Ballet users enjoy immediate usability by just scanning the QR-Code engraved on the wallet. The companion Ballet Crypto App brings the card to live without ever storing or sharing the private keys online with anyone.
It is an easy-to-use all-in-one solution that helps drive global adoption for cryptocurrencies and decentralised ledger technology to succeed.

This section is a basic rundown of the user-visible site technology.
The site is not natively accessible from a mobile Web browser as it is overlayed with a promotion for the mobile application instead. Selecting "Desktop View" in most mobile browsers should allow browser-based access.
There are both Android and iOS apps for MeWe. I've used neither of these, though the App store entries note:
MeWe Android 4.4 rating (13.1k ratings). Permissions: Contacts (read), Location (approximate/precise), SMS (receive), Phone (read status & identity), Photos/Media/Files (read, modify, & delete contents), Storage (read, modify, or delete), Camera (take pictures/videos), Microphone (record audio), Device ID & Call Info (read status & identity), and numerous elements under Other.

Either selecting "View Desktop" or navigating with a Desktop browser to https://www.mewe.com your are presented with a registration screen, with the "About", "Privacy Bill of Rights", "MeWe Challenge", and a language selector across the top of the page. Information requested are first and last name, phone or email, and a password. Pseudonymous identities are permitted, though this isn't noted on the login screen. Returning members can use the "Member Log In" button. The uMatrix Firefox extension reveals no third-party content: all page elements are served from mewe.com, img.mewe.com, cdn.mewe.com, or ws.mewe.com. (In subsequent browsing, you may find third-party plugins from, for example, YouTube, for videos, or Giphy, for animated GIFs.) The web front-end is nginx. The site uses SSL v3, issued by DigiCert Inc. to Sgrouples, Inc.
The onboarding experience is stark. There is no default content presented. A set of unidentified icons spans the top of the screen, these turn out to be Home, Chats, Groups, Pages, and Events. New users have to, somehow, find groups or people to connect with, and there's little guidance as to how to do this.
Generally there is a three panel view, with left- and right-hand sidebars of largely navigational or status information, and a central panel with main content. A key aspect of any social network is its community. Some of the available or ascertained information on this follows.
Weinstein claims a "million+ following inside MeWe.com" on Twitter. The largest visible groups appear to have a maximum of around 15,000 members , for "Awesome gifs". "Clean Comedy" rates 13,350, and the largest open political groups, 11,000+ members. This compares to Google+ which has a staggering, though Android-registrations-inflated 3.3 billion profiles, and 7.9 million communities, though the largest of these come in at under 10 million members. It's likely that MeWe's membership is on the whole more more active than Google+'s, where generally-visible posting activity was limited to just over 9% of all profiles, and the active user base was well under 1% of the total nominal population.
MeWe do not publish active users (e.g., MUA / monthly active users) statistics.
MeWe is principally a group-oriented discussion site -- interactions take place either between individuals or within group contexts. Virtually all discovery is group-oriented. The selection and dynamics of groups on the site will likely strongly affect user experience, so exploring the available groups and their characteristics is of interest. "MeWe has over 60,000 open groups" according to its FAQ. The Open groups -- visible to any registered MeWe user, though not to the general public Web -- are browsable, though sections and topics must be expanded to view the contents: an overview isn't immediately accessible. We provide a taste here. A selection of ten featured topics spans the top of the browser. As I view these, they are:
Health & Fitness
Cars & Motorcycles
Fashion and Beauty
Specific groups may appear in multiple categories. The top Groups within these topics have, variously, 15,482, 7,738, 15,482 (dupe), 7,745, 8,223, 8,220, 1,713, 9,527, 2,716, and 1,516 members. Listings scroll at length -- the Music topic has 234 Groups, ranging in size from 5 to 5,738 members, with a median of 59, mean of 311.4, and a 90%ile of 743.5. Below this is a grid of topics, 122 in all, ranging from Activism to Wellness, and including among them. A selected sample of these topics, with top groups listed members in (parens), follows:

The Google Plus expats group seems the most active of these by far.
It's curious that MeWe make a specific point in their FAQ that:
At MeWe we have absolutely no political agenda and we have a very straightforward Terms of Service. MeWe is for all law-abiding people everywhere in the world, regardless of political, ethnic, religious, sexual, and other preferences.
There are 403 political groups on MeWe. I won't list them all here, but the first 100 or so give a pretty clear idea of flavour. Again, membership is in (parentheses). Note that half the total political Groups memberships are in the first 21 groups listed here, the first 6 are 25% of the total.

It seems there is relatively little representation from the left wing, or even the centre, of the political spectrum. A case-insensitive match for "liberal" turns up:
104: Conservatives Against Liberal Beliefs C.A.L.I.B (273)
184: Progressive and Liberal Politics (119)
301: Liberalism is a Mental Disorder (33)
302: Resistance Against Liberal Socialism (33)
358: NOT For Liberals (17)
367: Drinking Liberally Houston (14)
400: Stephanie Miller's Sexy Liberal Army (6)
Mainstream political parties are little represented, though again, the balance seems skewed searching on "(democrat|republic|gop)":
391: Saving The Republic: Video News & Opinion (8)
The terms "left" and "right" provide a few matches, not all strictly political-axis aligned:
7: The Right To Self Defense (3757)
80: RISE OF THE RIGHT (371)
150: POLITICS ON THE LEFT (156)
157: 1st Amendment Rights Protected By The 2nd Amendmen (141)
209: On The Left With Jeremy Corbyn (84)
262: Eyes-Left Labour & PP - Social Media (49)
300: Gather Left (33)
385: Defend Washington State Gun Rights (9)
390: Left Coast Conservatives (8)
Socialism and Communism also warrant a few mentions:
121: Revolutionary Socialists United (204)
216: Socialist Thought (79)
220: Stories Of Communism (76)
262: Eyes-Left Labour & PP - Social Media (49)
288: Snuggly Wuggly Socialists (38)
302: Resistance Against Liberal Socialism (33)
And there are some references to green, laboulabor parties:
97: FRIENDS THAT LIKE JILL STEIN AND THE GREEN PARTY (292)
100: Green Party Supporters 2020 (283)
262: Eyes-Left Labour & PP - Social Media (49)
320: Green Party of Ohio Issues & Discussion Group (29)
Whilst there may not be a political agenda, there does appear to be at least a slight political bias to the site. And a distinctive skew on many other topical subjects. Those seeking new homes online may wish to take this into account.

TheRealHera - Exit Scam is clearly a farce - racism - lies - I call on hera's customers to comment
Hello all. Where should i start? When i first began getting what i refer to as my "baseline med", being xan, I was using what was a great market - didn't look great but worked excellently. Prior to using DN markets i was paying an arm and a leg getting from a normal website, its been so long i don't even remember the name. All the prices were in dollars, in a vain attempt to hide the fact it was a local (UK) site. You'd place an order, Then send a PO cheque made out to a foreign name, via signed for delivery to a PO box in London, then within 48 hours the order would arrive via signed for. I always new it was only a matter of time before this site was shut down which it was. I always new about the DN markets but didnt know where to start and had great fear of being ripped off. A workmate recommended nucleus. I signed up, and after a total pain getting verified so i could buy bitcoin, I went all out and purchased £100 worth, transferring to nucleus - was a great relief when it appeared in wallet! There were plenty vendors selling 2mg xan bars, but its widely known that 99% of bars available in the UK are home-made and "hit and miss" in terms of quality. I searched for vendors with the highest feedback. I came across a vendor, "hera" as he was known in nucleus. He sold what were stated as genuine alprazolam made by a company "galena" (please excuse any typos). All the feedback for them were excellent so i took a chance and bought as many as my £100 worth of coin would get me, standard signed for. I was delighted as they were clearly genuine Xanax, just as good and way cheaper than the phizer ones id been paying a fortune for. If it aint broke don't fix it so for the past 3+ years hera has been my vendor, not just for xan but other goodies also. I'm hoping more of heras long term customers will join me in this discussion, the main point of it being what's happened recently on his market account. Its been hacked by the same, clearly racist (vendors themselves) creators and gullible followers of a forum "dnstars" who for whatever reason - jealousy is what comes to mind, turning one of the best, most honest vendors account into an exit scam. Don't take my word for it, even though the account has now been banned thanks to these heartless people, you can still read the profile they have created. Referring to"This Jew" as a terrible vendor, constantly emphasising his ethnic origins - like this even matters. The racism side of things makes me sick, but the fact hera has never sold anything less than top quality genuine produce disturbs me even more. I have ordered everything he has to offer, not to mention the many samples iv e received. Out of the many vendors iv e tried, his quality of stock, stealth (brilliant stealth), comms is literally second top none. Minimal postage was always signed for to ensure any problems with postage and a resend would be sorted immediately Hera and RM never let me down so this was never an issue with me. Many dnstars members point out its a great site to chill and discuss market related stuff, I don't disagree and the people who point this out are clearly not in on , dramatic as it sounds, conspiracy to take down the top vendors on dreams by ways of slander, racism (iv e never seen so much in a forum ever, mostly pointed towards hera, being a “dirty Jew” ripping people off with crap meds among allot more nonsense. This is just me talking. Hera has thousands of loyal customers spanning many years, I call on them for support. The guy has served me so well, its criminal hes being shot down in flames like this. Go into dreams and look at his profile, whats being suggested is obscene, with the trademark “this Jew” included of course. Please, those who have been long term customers of hera, you know what I say is true, there's no exit scam here, just look at his feedback, its perfect up until the point hes been hacked. To say hes also infact a vendor called “spartacus” is almost laughable, I got from this vendor once before and without lowering myself to badmouthing other vendors, I know for a fact that spartacus himself;f had it in for hera, he personally asked me to order from hera and leave bad feedback!!!! Because of this, and vendors aka creators of dnstars doing the same, hera stopped accepting new customers. He already had an excellent customer base so there was no point taking on new customers who most likely are out to ruin his feedback. Just look at heras history! Why do I feel so strongly about this? Because iv e lost a perfect vendor of 3 years thanks to these racist haters and yes, DNStars ARE the main perpetrators. Sure its no doubt a cool forum to hang out in, have a laugh etc etc but im aware of one vendor in particular who is infact also an ownecreator of dnstars. I don't wanna carry on with more insinuations, all I want is for people, Customers of hera who know I speak the truth to come forward. I created a thread about the diabolical racism which conveniently was removed from the forum. What made me create said thread on dnstars about racism was the fact hera's grandfather died in the holocaust and he has been ridiculed for this time and time again and not just words but badly put together pictures – really offensive stuff. i cant believe these guys would ridicule the holocaust, its some real sick stuff.! Please will some of heras thousands of long term customers who have received nothing but perfect service come forward and show some support. Now Dnstars has become a £5 entry private forum designed to sway members towards vendors who are infact the forum creators and allys!!! If it wasnt for all the racism, especially disrespecting the holocaust, heras grandfather, who died in a death camp forgodsake, with childish cartoons, I may not even bother but these guys have gone too far!!! Its no secret hera is of Jewish heritage which he has never hidden. One last thing, Stealthpharmacy is the head of the site and the only one that sees the energy control results by email. He refused the idea of an open inbox so we could all see these tests as they are received – the question is, why? - so he can lie about the results!!! its so obvious what this site is all about – ruining long established excellent vendors for their own gain!!!! This aint just me, talking, there is proof. People on the site actually agreed with my thread about racism before it was removed!
Buying Bitcoin for the first time is STILL a huge ordeal.
I'm a networking and games programmer. After years of people asking me why I never bought any Bitcoin, I decided to take the plunge today. And I should emphasize TODAY, because I've been working on buying some ALL DAY, and I still don't actually have any that i can spend. I've bought countless things online instantly over the years, where I go to a website, type in my Visa card number, and have the thing shipped out to me that same day. Not just places where I have an established relationship (like Amazon), but also small retail websites. So... I've got a Visa card here. Should be able to get some Bitcoin in a few keystrokes, right? First, I tried Coinbase. After typing in way more info about myself than I was comfortable giving, they needed to verify my card before I was allowed to use it. They made two small withdrawals, but sadly, those both got declined by my bank the first time. I could see them, but Coinbase wouldn't let me enter them. I cleared this up with my bank, but there's a 12 hour waiting period before Coinbase will send more verification payments. So no go there. Next, I tried a hybrid approach, using CEX.io as an exchange, and then Blockchain as a wallet. Maybe I don't even need a wallet if I can send them out directly from CEX.io, but I wasn't sure, so I signed up for both. CEX.io's new account procedure was even MORE invasive than Coinbase. I had to take a picture of myself, my card, my ID with my card, etc. Plus more random withdrawals that I had to check and verify. Then of course my initial deposit was blocked by my bank. When do I usually spend money in the UK, after all? After waiting on hold with my bank for a long time, I finally got it cleared up (many hours later after first setting up CEX.io), and with the bank guy on the phone, with his hand on the PERMIT EVERYTHING switch, the CEX.io charge finally went through. Then I made the exchange on CEX.io. YES! I now have $100 USD worth of bitcoins. Let's transfer it to my Blockchain wallet. Oh wait, CEX.io has a 48 hour waiting period before withdrawals from new accounts. After all that? After they hand verified my ID and everything? I mean, they sent my first ID pic back because I gave them an expired license by accident. A human is checking each new account. Oh, wait, there's an extra process if you want to withdraw right away. So I have to take EVEN MORE PICTURES of myself, my ID, and this time, a scan of a bank statement to give them proof of address. Plus, fill out a 3-page form with all of my personal, private info (including birth town, SSN, etc). Unfortunately, when I finally finished this application, there was some glitch in the final submission, so I can't tell if it actually went through. Do I try doing the whole thing again? Sheesh. And there I sit, with $100 in bitcoin still locked in CEX.io for 48 hours. Hmm... And I realize that this is the way it HAS to be, because the potential for fraud is so enormous. Once the bitcoins are gone from CEX.io, they are GONE, chargebacks and fraud claims be damned. When you order something by mail, it GOES TO YOUR ADDRESS, so if you're paying with a stolen card, or issue an unfair charge-back, they at least have a hint about where to find you. In other words, I don't think this problem with entry into Bitcoin will EVER get better. How could it? I'm not going to sell you Bitcoin in exchange for USD without making you jump through hoops to prevent myself from being burned. Yes, probably banking regulations make this harder. But even without those regs, the fraud problem remains. But the irony of having to cough up so much personal info to use an "anonymous" currency is palpable. And yes, after it leaves CEX.io, anonymity kicks in... Or does it? Doesn't the blockchain record a trail back to my account at CEX.io, where all of my personal info was collected? This is more personal info than I've ever had to cough up for anything online. I've never photographed my ID before... Anyway, WHO, except the super dedicated or specifically motivated, is going to go through all of this? Edit: After typing this, it seems like CEX.io has approved my application for withdrawal today (waiving the 48H waiting period). So... 9 hours, two bank phone calls, seven photographs, and one scan later, I have some Bitcoin to spend!
BAT Community Weekly Update: 01/26/2018 to 02/01/2018 — Publisher accounts can now be linked to multiple channels & sites, $1M BAT giveaway all claimed, >1.2M active users on Brave, >10K publishers onboard, Brave v0.20.30 released!
Welcome to this week's community update! Milestones are being hit while the ad industry + privacy landscape are primed for BAT/Brave. Thanks to MurphD for helping put these together! You can now add multiple sites and channels to your publisher account! This new functionality means that content creators that use Brave Payments to monetize their content can now manage multiple properties (where “property” is defined as a web site or a YouTube channel) with one email address. Previously, a creator needed to create many accounts, one per property. See official blog here:https://brave.com/blog/multi-property-support-now-live-for-brave-verified-creators/
Passing 1.2 million monthly active users on Brave Brendan confirms that Brave has over 1.2 million active monthly users and reiterates some of Brave’s growth targets for this year. 2018 will be big! Tell your friends and family about Brave & BAT, and help usher in the future of the web. https://twitter.com/BrendanEich/status/959290805604122625
@lukemulks Let the $bat utility stacking begin! 1) Verify domain 2) Verify YT channel 3) Embed YT player on your web pages. Stack @AttentionToken utility. :-) February 1, 2018
@brave We have a new desktop release (0.20.30) that fixes the issue that affected start-up performance due to tab restoring (in 0.20.29). Note: this is for macOS and Windows users, and Linux version is around the corner. Thanks for your patience today if you reported this to us! February 2, 2018
Brave always works to stop malicious mining scripts! @BrendanEich Latest mining scripts use WebAssembly. @brave blocking, an ongoing cat & mouse game but winnable. We are the big cat! 11:37 PM - 26 Jan 2018
@BraveSampson One of the things I really love about how @AttentionToken and @brave are re-monetizing videos on YouTube, is that it even works when you watch a video embedded elsewhere on the web, such as on Twitter. I don't even have to visit YouTube to support Creators. 2:23 AM - Jan 27, 2018
Brave does and will do a better job blocking tracking when using private tabs @BrendanEich Incognito is no-local-traces not network-private. People report being fingerprinted in it in Chrome. Wherefore Brave’s ad+tracker blocking by default & Tor private tabs work. 4:52 PM - Jan 28, 2018
@BrendanEich We use “can’t be evil” because math (ZKP etc cryptographic protocols, moving on chain) vs today’s ad tech, which dropped “don’t be evil” (trust humans not math) a while ago. The BAT platform minimizes KYC to exit nodes. New unKYCed users get grants that trickle to KYCed creators. 7:23 PM - 28 Jan 2018
@BrendanEich Remarks: A. Opt-in KYC a la @civickey is valuable to users: one ID card scan, reuse blockchain-attested credentials N times; no tracking by Identity Provider of usage at Relying Parties. B. Premium attention/revenue possible w/ low enough tail risk -- another user win. C. In no case does Brave see your identity, just KYC provider attestation. D. No need for any KYC if you let grants/rev go back to creators. We're still building this so I'm describing observables/goals. All achievable thanks to separating KYC provider from grant/revenue source. 10:38 PM - Jan 28, 2018
Better dashboard and dark themes coming this year! @brianbondy Yes we'll get there this year with dark themes and a better dashboard 11:51 AM - Jan 31, 2018
@BrendanEich Brave blocks ads and trackers for 3-7x faster private by default browser, adds optional payments to your fave YouTube creators and websites funded by free token grants now, ad revenue shares to you soon. (Twitch, Twitter, Reddit, ... coming to match ability to help YouTubers...) 4:17 PM - Jan 31, 2018
Roaring Fans on Twitter:
@SamFogelgaren Just downloaded @brave desktop browser after using mobile for past month - thank you @BrendanEich and team - this is by far the fastest, most elegant and most user-focused broswer I've ever used - can't wait for further developments!
@spencernoon I just had a :wow: product moment in crypto (this is rare). Finally got around to downloading the @brave browser -- not having ads is a bit surreal. I'm excited to see @AttentionToken rolled out broadly. 6:02 PM - Jan 29, 2018
CryptoZen @pomomoh Recently started using @brave On-boarding is a breeze. Export activities from other browsers. Free #BAT tokens. No ads. Before @brave, used nothing but @googlechrome 1:51 PM - Jan 31, 2018
Geoff Lawrence @geoffdoesstuff Replying to @DamienPetrilli @kylefilegriffin and 2 others If I was to switch then I would use @Brave which I have tested and it works with Slack calls, it also benefits from being less "Google", blocks ads and supports @AttentionToken 6:44 AM - 1 Feb 2018
@AustinOnSocial Feb. 16th will be a great day for @RubinReport, @PhillyD, and @guardian when they get their payments. The true power of @brave will become quickly realized ð¥ pic.twitter.com/NXN1gNpNrA February 1, 2018
Sign-up for Binance Jersey Fiat Exchange At this time, the digital currency exchange market is filled with a wide variety of choices, therefore choosing the right exchange or trading platform can be quite a headache for both novice and veteran cryptocurrency users. Binance is a popular cryptocurrency exchange which was started in China but recently moved their headquarters to the crypto-friendly Island of Malta in the EU. Binance is popular for its crypto to crypto exchange services. While the company is still fairly new on the market ( it launched last year ), it has managed to gain a lot of popularity thanks to its impressive number of Initial Coin Offering listings, professional attitude and friendly CEO and also due to its low trading fees. Binance Website In our review, we will attempt to outline everything that you must know about Binance, including how it works, the crypto pairs that you can exchange, trading fees/limits, security aspects, and customer support. Visit Binance » How the Exchange Works Contents [Show] Those who visit Binance for the first time will quickly notice that the platform offers two options for digital currency trading- basic and advanced. Neither the basic, nor the advanced versions are bound to be easy to use for complete beginners. However, anyone with a background in digital currencies and with a bit of knowledge into how exchanges work should be able to use the platform and its different services. The main difference between the basic and the advanced version is that the advanced one offers more-in-depth technical analysis of digital currency value over time. At this time, the dashboard for the basic version offers several graphs and charts for the pairs that you’re trading, order books, and trade history. 3Commas This is what the basic view looks like : Binance Trading View The Basic view is nicely designed and well laid out, all the information you need is clearly presented with prices on the left, graphs in the center along with the buy and sell boxes and the trade history is presented on the right so you can quickly see what the latest trade prices were. And this is what the advanced view looks like: Advanced View The advanced view uses a dark theme and makes the trading charts larger and the latest trade prices are displayed on the right with the buy sell boxes underneath. Which you choose is a matter of preference really, I like the lighter colored basic view and find the layout a little easier to use. Binance Signup & Login To use the exchange, users will first have to create an account. The process behind this is fairly simple and straight-forward and you don’t have to verify your account for level 1 which is a 2BTC daily withdrawal limit. For level 2 which allows up to 100BTC per day, you need to upload a photo ID and wait till you are approved. There are higher limits still, but you will need to contact them directly to arrange that. Time for verification can vary depending on how busy the site support staff are, so make sure to plan ahead if you wish to withdraw larger amounts and make sure this step is complete before depositing and trading large sums on the exchange. ID Verification Now, that this is out of the way, users can go ahead and fund their Binance account. While you can choose from a multitude of digital currencies, it is recommended that you stick with either BTC or ETH. To fund your account visit the “Funds” > “Deposits / Withdrawals” link at the top of the site and find the currency you wish to send, then click the “Deposit” button next to it which will then you give you the wallet address. You can then send your funds to this address to begin trading on the platform, depending on which currency you deposit it will take different times to show up as this is reliant on that currencies blockchain. Some currencies like Ethereum are faster than Bitcoin which can take a while. Binance Wallets Now that your account is funded, you can simply start trading, exchanging and investing in various digital currency pairs. Binance offers plenty of choices, as they support all major digital currencies, but also numerous ICO listings and their respective tokens. At this time, the platform can only be used to generate limit and market orders. This has been considered a disadvantage by some, as many expected trading options that would be more advanced. Following the placement of your order, simply wait for it to be fulfilled according to the terms that have been set. How to Trade on Binance Trading on Binance is fairly straight-forward if you have used any other cryptocurrency exchange before. To get started, make sure you have deposited some funds – there are options for trading pairs in BTC, ETH, BNB and USDT. Once you have your funds, at the top right menu, select “Exchange” > “Basic” or “Advanced” to load the trading screen. We will be using the Basic view. Binance Trading View On the right hand side, of the screen select a tab from BTC, ETH, BNB or USDT this is what you will be trading in. Then choose your desired currency from the list. You can also search here and you can create a favorites list by clicking the star next to any currencies. Choose currency to buy Once your desired currency has loaded, take note of the left-hand column which shows prices that people are willing to sell at in the top half in red and prices people are willing to buy at in green in the bottom half. The number in the middle shows the last sale price. Buy and Sell Prices Now to place a buy order, use the center box underneath the graphs and you will see the buy box is in green on the right. You can manually enter a price you wish to purchase at, but a better way is to click a number on the left-hand column. You can then enter the amount of the currency you wish to buy or click the 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% buttons which will fill it with an amount based on how much of the buying currency you have ( in this case BTC ). Buy Order Once your order is placed it will be show underneath in the “Open Orders” section until it is filled. At that point your new currency will be available under the “Deposits / Withdrawals” menu where you can withdraw it to the wallet of your choice. Supported Crypto Currencies Binance has often been praised for its wide variety of support coins. Traders can use the platform for multiple digital currencies, including, but not limited to Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, EOS, Dash, LiteCoin, NEO, GAS, Zcash, Dash, Ripple and more. As mentioned before, Binance also supports numerous tokens, as part of ICO listings. With this in mind, traders can use the platform to trade these tokens for a profit as well. Binance is currently very quick to add new coins and tokens after their ICO which usually means you can purchase them cheaply which allows for greater profit down the road. They currently offer trading pairs in BTC, BNB, ETH and USDT. Binance Markets Binance ICO & BNB Coin Another thing to note is the Binance Coin, which was issued during their own ICO. The Binance coin can be used to pay fees and it will also feature in their future plans to create a Decentralized Exchange where it will form one of the key base currencies. Purchasing the Binance coin itself looks like a good investment for the future as the exchange plans to use their profits to buy back a portion of the coins every quarter and destroy them: hence decreasing the supply and making them more valuable for holders. Every quarter, we will use 20% of our profits to buy back BNB and destroy them, until we buy 50% of all the BNB (100MM) back. All buy-back transactions will be announced on the blockchain. We eventually will destroy 100MM BNB, leaving 100MM BNB remaining. Binance BNB Coin If you’d like to read more about the BNB Coin, check out our indepth guide. Binance Fees & Limits At the time of writing, Binance charges an average fee of 0.1% on each trade that a user makes. Those who choose to pay via the Binance token can get a 50% discount on the trading fee, which is absolutely great news. These are surely some of the lowest fees available at this time. Withdrawal fees tend to vary for each digital currency. For instance, 0.0005 is charged for Bitcoin withdrawals, and 0.005 is charged for ETH withdrawals. Here are some examples to give you an idea of the fees you will be paying for withdrawals: COIN CODE Fee Unit Binance Coin BNB 1 BNB Bitcoin BTC 0.001 BTC Ethereum ETH 0.01 ETH Litcoin LTC 0.01 LTC Neo NEO Free NEO Qtum QTUM 0.01 QTUM Status SNT 10 SNT Bancor BNT 1.2 BNT Eos EOS 0.7 EOS Bitcoin Cash BCC 0.0005 BCC Gas GAS Free GAS USDT USDT 50 USDT When it comes down to transfer limits, there is no limit on the number of coins that you can deposit. However, without getting verified, users are limited in terms of how much they can withdraw. Verification will establish you as a level two users, thus lifting these limits and providing a lot more freedom when using the platform. The verification process requires users to provide Binance with their full name, country, gender, a photo of passport/government-issued ID, and even a selfie with the passport. Binance Competitions A unique feature of Binance you will notice is that they regularly hold competitions with some amazing prizes. Some examples of competitions in the past include Waves and Tron. The waves competition gave away 20,000 Waves to Traders based on how many trades they have made of this currency. The other competition for Tron (TRX) gave participants the chance to win a Maserati car, Mercedes Benz car, a Macbook Pro or a iPhone X. Again, the winners were the people with the highest trading volume of this currency. The current rankings show that the person in first place had over 358 BTC volume in trades so you will need to be a whale to be in with a chance of winning first prize. There are other regular competitions though, so keep an eye on the site for your chance to enter. Is Binance Safe? While Binance is one of the newest cryptocurrency exchanges available on the market, it has quickly managed to attain a high level of trust from its users and the digital currency community. However, the exchange fails to provide users with enough information on how the funds are being secured, yet we like to believe that security is taken seriously. Two-factor authentication is available and is always a nice sight. It is however known that the platform offers a multi-tier and multi-tier system architecture. Update: In March 2018 Binance suffered a hacking attempt. The hackers tried to pull off an audacious move which was luckily caught by the automated systems in place at the exchange. For months the hackers had been accumulating people’s logins via a phishing website and secretly installing API access on the affected accounts. They then struck, converting all the victims altcoins to BTC and purchasing Viacoin, pumping the coin to a huge price and then selling their own supply of Viacoin at the high point, before trying to withdraw the BTC to their own wallets. Luckily no one lost funds as the hack was caught and the only people to lose out were the hackers, whose funds will be donated to charity. As this hack was made possible by people entering their site logins and 2FA details into a fake website, you should always make sure you are on the correct Binance url before logging in. We recommend you bookmark the site and only use that to access it, never click links from emails, Twitter, Telegram etc. This event has done a lot to instill confidence around Binance, not only did their automated processes catch the attempted hack before anyone lost any funds, they have since offered a $250,000 bounty to anyone who can help catch the hackers. Throughout this event, Binance acted exemplary and have been praised for their swift action in resolving this. Binance Customer Support For an exchange to be successful, it requires a great customer support team, capable of answering all user questions and requests in a timely manner. While the support area on Binance could use a little work, the team is responsive and capable of offering professional aid to traders in need. Support tickets are submitted via an online form featured on the website, and responses are made via email. There is currently no live chat support, nor a phone number where customers can get in touch with the support team. Binance Customer Support Other than the CS team, Binance offers a couple of FAQs and articles meant to help users get accustomed to the exchange and the way it works. Binance FAQs It should be noted that customer support on Binance has been known to be slow to respond to customer requests. This is a familiar phenomenon with most of large exchanges and is due simply to the volume of users and amount of support staff. The exchanges have grown at an explosive rate this past year and the companies simply haven’t been able to keep up with demand. Binance grew fast especially, going from launch to the largest exchange on the planet in a few short months. Support staff for exchanges have to be carefully vetted and trained due to the technicalities and security requirements involved – unlike other traditional companies where staff can be trained quicker. Some things to bare in mind are double-checking wallet addresses, make sure you are sending the correct cryptocurrency to it’s corresponding address on the site. Mixups with wallets are one of the biggest mistakes people make when using exchanges. Other things to note are, try a smaller test payment first if you plan to transfer large sums – it may cost you a little more in fees but will be worth it for peace of mind. If you do need to contact support, make sure you provide them with enough information to be able to help you first time. Include wallet addresses, times of transactions and any other information you think they might need to help speed up the process. The Move to Malta In March 2018, Japanese Newspaper Nikkei reported that Binance was trading in Japan and not following their official regulations. This caused some turbulence in the markets until Binance made an official announcement that they were going to be moving operations to the crypto-friendly island of Malta in Europe, stating : After reviewing several different locations, the company decided to invest in the European nation due to its existing pro-blockchain legislation and the stability that it offers financial technology companies through its regulatory framework. This is good news for the company and they even received a warm welcome from the Prime Minister of Malta on Twitter. Binance also announced that they were in talks with Maltese banks with the goal of providing Fiat transactions, meaning they can offer an on-ramp for fiat to crypto transactions in future along with fiat trading pairs on the exchange. More good news for Binance, it seems as their profile and reputation within the industry continues to grow. Launching a Decentralized Exchange More recent news for Binance and what seems like good news BNB holders is the fact that they are planning to launch their own Decentralized Exchange ( DEX ): “After extensively researching decentralized exchange frameworks and analyzing existing implementations, we believe significant improvements can be made in providing Binance users with a level of trading experience to which they are already accustomed. Centralized and Decentralized exchanges will co-exist in the near future, complementing each other, while also having interdependence.” The BNB digital asset, now an ERC-20 token, will migrate as the native token of that network and be used for paying the trading fees on the new exchange. Launching a Decentralized Stock Exchange More good news recently for Binance is that they are partnering with Neufund to build the world’s first Decentralized Stock Exchange. Alongside the Malta Stock Exchange, they are aiming to create a regulated and decentralized, global stock exchange for listing and trading tokenized securities alongside crypto-assets. According to CapLinked, the market cap of equity tokens alone is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2020 and thanks to the partnership with MSX, a subsidiary of the Malta Stock Exchange and Binance, Neufund will become the first end-to-end primary issuance platform for security tokens, in particular, equity tokens. It will secure ways for secondary trading of equity tokens and enable companies around the world to fundraise on Blockchain in a legal way while offering much-needed liquidity. This is more positive news for Binance as they aim to consolidate their position as the world’s number one Crypto Exchange. Through Binance Jersey, we want to help bridge the crypto-fiat channel for Europe and the U.K. as part of our global expansion to support broader cryptocurrency adoption”. If you are familiar with trading on Binance, then you will feel at home on their new exchange – it uses the same engine and the trading screen is laid out in the same fashion with the option to choose between Basic and Advanced views: Binance Jersey Trading Screen To fund your account in fiat, you will first need to complete the KYC process, once that is done you can then deposit funds directly from your bank account by linking it from the Deposits screen. You can also fund your account with BTC or Ethereum. Once you have your account setup and bank account linked, you can also withdraw funds in fiat currency – this is great news as Binance is now able to offer a way for investors to cash out their cryptocurrencies. We have upgraded our review scores below and we feel this is a huge improvement to Binance’s Exchange offering, if they manage to roll this out to even more countries ( USA is currently excluded) it could be a game changer as people now have an extra, regulated fiat on and off ramp for their holdings. Binance Launchpad and Initial Coin Offerings (IEOs) Binance Launchpad is the exchange’s token launch platform that aims to connect blockchain projects with the greater cryptocurrency community and enable projects to raise funds while interacting with Binance’s significant user base. In December 2017, the BREAD and GIFTO projects were able to hold successful token sales on Binance Launchpad and projects such as BitTorrent and Fetch.AI have also held successful launches in 2019. The platform makes use of the exchange’s native BNB token and rewards users for holding the token as well as allowing it to be used to participate in token sales. Read: What is an IEO? How Token Offerings Work on Binance Launchpad The ability to part in token offerings continues to attract a significant amount of users to Binance and it’s necessary to go through a number of steps in order to get used to the Launchpad platform. Anyone interested in a project should first go to the Binance Launchpad website and click on the project page and thoroughly research any of the projects on offer. If not already done, it’s also necessary to complete your Binance account verification, as token sales are carried out in compliance with the regulatory requirements in supported user jurisdictions. The Lottery System Binance Launchpad operates a lottery system which sees that the number of lottery tickets you can claim being dependant on the amount of BNB tokens you hold in your Binance account over a 20-day period leading up to the day of the lottery, with a maximum of up to 5 tickets per eligible account. The 20 days leading up to the lottery draw date is represented by X below, and by example, 100 ≤ X < 200 means that your BNB balance over the entire 20-day period is kept at 100 BNB or more, but does not exceed or reach 200 BNB. A snapshot at 0:00 AM (UTC) each day records each user’s BNB balance, and should your BNB balance drop below the minimum balance required on any given day during the 20-day period, they will be put into the lower threshold. For example, if User A holds 301 BNB for 19 of the 20 days but their balance drops to 299 BNB on one day. They will move to the lower threshold and only be eligible to claim 2 lottery tickets. Before the actual lottery date, users are given a 24 hour period to select how many lottery tickets they wish to enter, with the maximum number based upon their BNB holdings over the previous 20 days. Here, if a user submits an entry of 5 tickets and 2 tickets end up winning, they are committed to pay for 2 ticket allocations (in BNB) for the tokens. Each lottery ticket has a unique number with multiple lottery ticket holders, obtaining tickets with consecutive numbers. For example, when claiming 5 tickets, the tickets may be numbered 100010, 100011, 100012, 100013 and 100014. Once the 24 hour period ends and all tickets have been fully issued, Binance begins to randomly select multi-digit numbers. These are matched against the tail digits of all issued tickets in order to determine the list of winners. The selection process continues until the maximum number of winners are matched, and the respective BNB is deducted from each winning user’s balance, as soon as they are deemed a winner. Binance announces the maximum number of potential lottery ticket winners, and the allocation amount corresponding to each winning ticket in advance. Conclusion Currently, the matching engine of the exchange is capable of processing approximately 1.4 million orders each second, hence making it one of the fastest exchanges available on the market. Additionally, the exchange works on all forms of devices, including web, Android, WeChat, and HTML5.
